5th ranked VolinBasket (7-5) fell to eighth ranked Kirovograd (6-12) in overtime by seven points 87-94 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of VolinBasket. Worth to mention a great performance of Anton Rozhkov (198-G/F-88) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Kirovograd maintains eighth place with 6-12 record. VolinBasket at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost. Kirovograd will face higher ranked Tornado (#4) in Odessa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. VolinBasket will play on the road against BK Kremen in Kremenchuk.

The most impressive performance of 19th round was 26 points and 8 assists by Evgen Korovyakov of Khartsyzsk.


Kirovograd - VolinBasket 94-87 OT

5th ranked VolinBasket (7-5) fell to eighth ranked Kirovograd (6-12) in overtime by seven points 87-94 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of VolinBasket. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 20-19 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 7-point victory in overtime. Kirovograd made 27-of-34 free shots (79.4 percent) during the game. VolinBasket was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Anton Rozhkov (198-88) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Ivan Gusarov (190-87) contributed with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Five Kirovograd players scored in double figures. Power forward Vadim Reka (206-83) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds and guard Bogdan Karebin (191-78) added 30 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for VolinBasket. Kirovograd maintains eighth place with 6-12 record. VolinBasket at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost. Kirovograd will face higher ranked Tornado (#4) in Odessa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. VolinBasket will play on the road against BK Kremen in Kremenchuk.

There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Koksokh-Stal (7-11) edged 4th placed Tornado (8-8) in Odessa 81-79 on Sunday. Tornado cut a 13-point halftime deficit to two at the end of the game. Koksokh-Stal made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for guard Pavlo Haylo (182-87) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 9 assists. Swingman Boris Bereziuk (196-87) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Forward Igor Meshcheryakov (204-86) answered with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Sergey Lapenko (196-85) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Tornado. Four Tornado players scored in double figures. Tornado's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Koksokh-Stal maintains seventh place with 7-11 record. Loser Tornado keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. Koksokh-Stal will face league's second-placed Khartsyzsk in Donetsk in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tornado will play on the road against Kirovograd.

Rather expected game when 3rd placed Avantazh-Politekhnik (10-2) lost to first ranked Musson (17-1) in Symferopil 71-88 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Musson. Avantazh-Politekhnik was better in second period 23-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a very good performance for Russian center Dmitri Lipovtsev (207-86) who helped to win the game recording 25 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Igor Kozhevatov (195-88) contributed with 9 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Timur Arabadzhi (192-81) answered with 30 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists (made all of his seven free throws) and forward Anton Mikhaylov (192-91) added 9 points in the effort for Avantazh-Politekhnik. Avantazh-Politekhnik's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Musson have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted Musson maintains first place with 17-1 record. Loser Avantazh-Politekhnik keeps the third position with two games lost. Musson will face BC-93 Pulsar (#6) in Rovno in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Avantazh-Politekhnik will play on the road against Ternopil-TNEU.

Very predictable result when second ranked Khartsyzsk (14-2) rolled over on the road bottom-ranked Ternopil-TNEU (0-14) 116-48 on Sunday. The game without a history. Khartsyzsk led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Ternopil-TNEU's 28. Khartsyzsk forced 22 Ternopil-TNEU turnovers and outrebounded them 51-24 including a 30-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Khartsyzsk looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a very good performance for center Sergei Sabutskyy (208-86, agency: TSS Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 30 points and 13 rebounds. Forward Evgen Korovyakov (197-88, agency: New Trend Agency) contributed with 26 points and 8 assists for the winners. Four Khartsyzsk players scored in double figures. Center Sergyi Teleshko (209-92) answered with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and center Evgen Odazhu (210-92) added 6 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Ternopil-TNEU. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Khartsyzsk maintains second place with 14-2 record having five points less than leader Musson. Loser Ternopil-TNEU still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Khartsyzsk will face Koksokh-Stal (#7) in Alchevsk in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Ternopil-TNEU will play at home against Avantazh-Politekhnik in Kharkov and hopes to get finally their first victory.
