Sabutskyy number one in Ukrainian Higher League for round 19 - Dec 24, 2012

Sergei
Sabutskyy
Center Sergei Sabutskyy (208-C-86, agency: TSS Management) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Khartsyzsk, receiving a Eurobasket.com Higher League Player of the Week award for round 19.
The 26-year old player had a double-double of 30 points and 13 rebounds, while his team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team Ternopil (#10, 0-14) with 68-point margin 116-48. Khartsyzsk maintains the 2nd position in Ukrainian Higher League. They are still close to the very top. Khartsyzsk would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 14-2 record. In the team's last game Sabutskyy had a remarkable 55.6% from 2-point range. He turned to be Khartsyzsk's top player in his first season with the team. Sergei Sabutskyy averages this season 13.8ppg.

The second best player in last round's games was another Khartsyzsk's star - 24-year old Evgen Korovyakov (197-F-88, agency: New Trend Agency). Korovyakov had a very good evening with 26 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists. Of course together with Sabutskyy he helped Khartsyzsk with another comfortable win outscoring Ternopil (#10, 0-14) 116-48. Khartsyzsk's second position in the standings has not changed. His team lost just two games this season, while they won 14 matches. Korovyakov is a newcomer at Khartsyzsk, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was former international guard Timur Arabadzhi (192-G-81) of Avantazh-Pol. (#3). Arabadzhi got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He went also for seven rebounds and six assists. Despite Arabadzhi's great performance Avantazh-Pol. lost 71-88 to #1 ranked Musson. But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Avantazh-Pol. had another "accident". It may be a crucial game and cause dropping from the group of top ranked teams. The record is still good, but 2nd lost game is hopefully really an accident. Arabadzhi's teammates are also very good. That's why having such high stats is even more impressive. Arabadzhi has a great season in Ukraine. After 12 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.0ppg (2nd best) and assists with 4.3apg (6th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Bogdan Karebin (191-G-78) of VolinBasket - 30 points and 9 rebounds
5. Vadim Reka (206-F/C-83) of VolinBasket - 26 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Pavlo Haylo (182-G-87) of Koksokh-Stal - 27 points, 4 rebounds and 9 assists
7. Dmitri Lipovtsev (207-C-86) of Musson - 25 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists
8. Igor Kozhevatov (195-F-88) of Musson - 9 points, 16 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Olexiy Momotenko) of Tornado - 8 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Igor Meshcheryakov (204-F-86) of Tornado - 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Can Anyone Stop the Golden State Warriors this Year? - 1 day ago
The Golden State Warriors were on the verge of rewriting the history books last year before throwing away a 3-1 advantage against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals. Steve Kerr's side had just recorded the first ever 73-win season; eclipsing the Chicago Bulls' history-making 72-win year back in 1996 but they fell short when it mattered most of all. However, the Warriors made moves during the offseason to ensure that a similar slip-up will not occur this year. Back in July, Oklah...   [read more]

Olexandr Furs is a newcomer at Bipa Basket - 15 hours ago
Bipa Basket Odessa (Superleague) strengthened their roster with addition of 24-year old small forward Olexandr Furs (201-107kg-93) from VolinBasket. In 20 Superleague games he recorded 6.2ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.9apg this season. The most of last season Furs spent at Dynamo (SL Favorit Sport) where in 39 games he averaged 3.8ppg, 2.1rpg and 1.0apg.
