Greer's 20 points and 8 assists give him Player of the Week award - Dec 26, 2012

33-year old point guard Lynn Greer (186-PG-79) put on an amazing game in the last round for Azovmash and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 32.
He had the game-high 20 points adding eight assists for Azovmash in his team's victory, helping them to edge out Cherkasy (#9, 10-12) 80-76. Azovmash maintains the 3rd position in Ukrainian league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Azovmash will need more victories to improve their 15-5 record. Greer turned to be Azovmash's top player in his first season with the team. Temple University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Greer is in league's top in assists (7th best: 5.6apg) and averages solid 45.2% from behind 3-point line.

Second best performed player last round was Anthony Shavies (191-G-83, agency: Interperformances) of Mykolaiv. He is American guard in his first season at Mykolaiv. In the last game Shavies recorded impressive 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. It was enough for Mykolaiv to edge slightly lower-ranked BC Donetsk (#8, 10-9) by 4 points 69-65. This victory allowed Mykolaiv to move up to 7th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 11-11 record is not bad and everything may still change. Shavies is a newcomer at Mykolaiv and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third place about best performers goes to Denis Ikovlev (201-SF-86, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) of Cherkasy (#9). Ikovlev scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Despite Ikovlev's great performance Cherkasy lost 76-80 to the higher-ranked Azovmash (#3, 15-5). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Cherkasy ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 12 games, recording just ten victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Ikovlev could help Cherkasy to bring them higher in the standings. Ikovlev has a very solid season. In 22 games in Ukraine he scored 9.0ppg. He also has 5.6rpg and FGP: 52.4%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Charles Thomas (203-F-86) of Cherkasy - 17 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
5. D'or Fischer (211-C-81) of BC Donetsk - 12 points and 8 rebounds
6. Manny Harris (196-G-89) of Azovmash - 10 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Igor Zaytsev (210-C-89) of Azovmash - 10 points and 8 rebounds
8. Darius Songaila (204-C/F-78) of BC Donetsk - 16 points and 7 rebounds
9. Maxim Ivshyn (209-C-86) of Cherkasy - 12 points and 6 rebounds
10. Vincent Hunter (208-F-84) of Cherkasy - 11 points and 3 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
