Serbian Vladan Vukosavljevic (206-F/C-84, agency: Beo Basket) had a great game in the last round for Halychyna and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 34. The 28-year old power forward had a double-double of 24 points and twelve rebounds, while his team edged out Azovmash (#3, 17-6) 80-78. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Halychyna is placed at 4th position in Ukrainian Superleague. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Halychyna will need more victories to improve their 14-10 record. It's Vukosavljevic's second year at Halychyna and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Vladan Vukosavljevic averages this season 15.5ppg and 9.0rpg.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 26-year old American guard Eugene Lawrence (184-G-86, agency: Two Points) of Hoverla. Lawrence impressed basketball fans with 15 points, 3 rebounds and 7 assists. Bad luck as Hoverla lost that game 72-83 to slightly lower-ranked BC Donetsk (#7, 12-10). This loss caused Hoverla to drop to 5th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 13-11 record is not bad and everything may still change. Lawrence is a newcomer at Hoverla and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.
The third best performed player last round was Lithuanian Darius Songaila (204-C/F-78, agency: Priority Sports) of BC Donetsk (#7). Songaila scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He was a key player of BC Donetsk, leading his team to a 83-72 win against slightly higher-ranked Hoverla (#5, 13-11). BC Donetsk needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 12 victories and 10 lost games. Songaila has a very solid season. In 16 games in Ukraine he scored 15.3ppg. He also has 6.2rpg and FGP: 54.5%.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Oleksiy Pecherov (213-C-85) of Azovmash - 26 points and 5 rebounds 5. Kyndall Dykes (190-SG-87) of Hoverla - 18 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists 6. Travis Peterson (208-C/F-85) of Hoverla - 15 points and 7 rebounds 7. D'or Fischer (211-C-81) of BC Donetsk - 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists 8. Maksym Pustozvonov (200-SF-87) of BC Donetsk - 9 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists 9. Darrel Mitchell (181-PG-84) of Halychyna - 22 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists 10. Ramel Curry (192-G-80) of BC Donetsk - 14 points and 8 assists
The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
