American forward Sam Muldrow (205-F-88) put on an amazing game in the last round for DniproAzot, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 37. The 24-year old player was the main contributor (29 points, nine rebounds and three assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Ferro-ZNTU (#2, 17-8) 81-75. DniproAzot is placed at 10th position in Ukrainian Superleague. DniproAzot is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 10-14 record. In the team's last game Muldrow had a remarkable 57.1% from 2-point range. It was one of impressive evenings for him as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Former University of South Carolina star has very solid stats this year. Muldrow is in league's top in rebounds (8th best: 6.8rpg) and averages impressive 3.2bpg and 50.5% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was 22-year old American Jarrod Jones (205-F-90) of BC Kyiv. Jones had a very good evening with a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds. Bad luck as BC Kyiv lost that game 68-74 to slightly higher-ranked BC Odessa (#13, 7-17). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. BC Kyiv is still at the dead bottom 14th position. 20 lost games are too many comparing to just six victories BC Kyiv managed to get this year. Jones is a newcomer at BC Kyiv, but is already one of team's top players.
Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Justin Love (189-G-78) of BC Odessa (#13). Love scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He was a key player of BC Odessa, leading his team to a 74-68 win against slightly lower-ranked BC Kyiv (#14, 6-20). BC Odessa can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 7-17 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Love he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Love has individually a great season in Ukraine. After 23 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.0ppg (6th best).

Azovmash tied Superleague Finals at 1-1. Budivelnyk trailed by 16 points after 3 quarters before a 23-11 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 73-77 at the end of the game. Azovmash made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Serbian power forward Tadija Dragicevic (206-86, agency: Beo Basket) had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American point guard Lynn Greer (186-79, college: Temple) chipped in 17 points and 8 assists during the contest. Andriy Novikov (200-F-89) and Vitaliy Bliznyuk (206-C-79) finished successful season in Belarus. Their Grodno-93 lost the Finals to Tsmoki-Minsk and finished second.
Tsmoki-Minsk became the Champions of Belarus! The defending champions swept the Finals series against Grodno-93 3-0 adding 74:66 road win.

Tsmoki-Minsk dominated on the defensive end, holding Grodno-93 to just 5 points in second quarter. Aliaksei Lashkevich (203-PF-78) top-scored for the winners with 17 points and Aliaksei Trastsinetski added 14. Pavel Ulyanko netted 11, while Ater Majok and Dzianis Korshuk added 7 apiece. Yuri Kuzminets replied with 20 points in the losing effort and Mastou scored 12. Igor Konuyshenko produced 10 and Korzh had 9. Andriy Novikov averaged 3.5 points per game, while Vitaliy Bliznyuk showed 4.3 points per game.

Volodimir Kholopov is back on the bridge in Cherkasy Monkeys. The team has agreed on terms of contract with the specialist to return to head coaching position. Volodimir Kholopov worked as head coach of Cherkasy in 2008/2012 seasons. He was replaced at helm of the team by Jovica Arsic before the season start. Kholopov worked as assistant coach during the last season. He will now try to improve Cherkasy position in the next season [read more]
