Seventh-ranked BC Donetsk (13-13) made lots of trouble for third ranked Azovmash (18-8) on Friday. The visitors from Mariupol managed to secure only one-point victory 91-90. However their fans expected much easier game. The best player for the winners was Manny Harris who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Azovmash moved-up to second place. Defending champion BC Donetsk keeps the seventh position with 13 games lost. Azovmash will have a break next round. BC Donetsk will play on the road against Cherkasy (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The best stats of 38th round was 27 points and 12 rebounds by Vernon Goodridge of Khimik.

Kryvbasbasket - Ferro-ZNTU 88-78

There was an upset in Krivoy Rog where second-ranked Ferro-ZNTU (17-9) was defeated by eleventh ranked Kryvbasbasket (11-15) 88-78 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 32-19 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Kryvbasbasket forced 23 Ferro-ZNTU turnovers. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was swingman Winsome Frazier (193-82, college: Mississippi St.) who had a triple-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals. point guard Darius Adams (182-89, college: Indianapolis, agency: Three Eye Sports) chipped in 21 points. Kryvbasbasket's coach Karlis Muiznieks used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. BC Odessa - Dnipro 83-81

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked BC Odessa and 13th ranked Dnipro had identical 8-17 record. This time BC Odessa used a home court advantage and edged the opponent from Dnepropetrovsk 83-81 on Friday night. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Justin Love (189-78, college: St.Louis) who scored 21 points and 8 rebounds. The former international center Stanislav Balashov (210-79) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). BC Odessa's coach Oleg Yushkin used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Australian-Dutch power forward Daniel Kickert (208-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) produced 28 points and American point guard Derrick Low (188-86, college: Washington St.) added 22 points respectively for the guests. BC Odessa have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain twelfth position with 9-17 record. Dnipro lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with 18 games lost. Very expected game in Yuzhny where 11th ranked DniproAzot (10-16) was defeated by fifth ranked Khimik (15-11) 81-76 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-76. Khimik outrebounded DniproAzot 38-27 including 19 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Vernon Goodridge (206-84, college: La Salle) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field). Montenegrin-Bosnian swingman Suad Sehovic (196-87) chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds. Goodridge is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Khimik players scored in double figures. Khimik's coach Zvezdan Mitrovic used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Sam Muldrow (205-88, college: S.Carolina) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks and his fellow American import guard Eric Devendorf (193-87, college: Syracuse) added 17 points respectively for the guests. Khimik maintains fifth position with 15-11 record. DniproAzot at the other side keeps the eleventh place with 16 games lost. Khimik will face Dnipro (#13) in Dnepropetrovsk in the next round and are hoping to win another game. They were better in double-overtime eventually winning that period 9-9. Azovmash made 26-of-31 free shots (83.9 percent) during the game, while BC Donetsk only scored nine points from the stripe. Strangely BC Donetsk outrebounded Azovmash 56-36 including a 26-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. BC Donetsk was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American guard Manny Harris (196-89, college: Michigan) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Serbian center Miroslav Raduljica (213-88) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. Bipa Basket Odessa (Superleague) strengthened their roster with addition of 24-year old small forward Olexandr Furs (201-107kg-93) from VolinBasket. In 20 Superleague games he recorded 6.2ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.9apg this season. The most of last season Furs spent at Dynamo (SL Favorit Sport) where in 39 games he averaged 3.8ppg, 2.1rpg and 1.0apg. Coincidentally all hosts won their games. An interesting game for Hoverla (12-2) which hosted in Frankivsk 4th ranked BC-93 Pulsar (8-6). First ranked Hoverla had an easy win 90-50.
