Here is the weekly review of the top performing Ukrainian players, who play currently abroad.


Olexandra Kurasova

   #1. This week's number one is an international forward Olexandra Kurasova (186-86, currently plays in Euroleague). She led her Spanish team Rivas Ecopolis to an easy victory against the seventh-ranked IMOS Brno (2-8) 67-50 in the Euroleague in Wednesday night's game. Kurasova scored 14 points and had 4 steals in 31 minutes on the court. Rivas Ecopolis (6-4) is placed third in group A. There are only two games left until the end of the Euroleague Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Kurasova's first season with the team. She has relatively good stats this year: 14.5ppg, 4.3rpg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 50.5%, 3FGP: 42.9% and FT: 89.5% in the 10 games she played so far. Kurasova is currently a member of the Ukrainian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to former international guard Olga Dubrovina (170-87, agency: LBM Management, currently plays in Bulgaria). She was the major contributor in Neftochimic's victory against the fifth-ranked Montana 2003 (6-10) 76-70 in the Bulgarian NBL last Wednesday. Dubrovina scored 16 points, made 3 passes and 3 steals. Neftochimic 2010 Burgas (16-0) is placed first in the NBL. So far her team won all sixteen games in the Regular Season. Dubrovina is ranked second on the list of the best passers in the league and also on the list of most steals (third place). She has very reliable stats this season: 13.8ppg, 3.9rpg, 5.4apg, 2.4spg, 2FGP: 49.6%, 3FGP: 34.7% and FT: 80.4%. Dubrovina played for the Ukrainian national team in 2011.

   #3. The Ukrainian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international center Viktoria Mircheva (190-87, currently plays in France), who plays in the French LFB. She could not help Nantes Reze (9-8) in their last game. Despite Mircheva's good performance Nantes Reze was badly defeated 75-57 on the road by the higher-ranked (#4) Lyon. She was the top scorer with 12 points in 24 minutes. This year Mircheva averages: 8.2ppg, 3.6rpg, 2FGP: 40.6%, 3FGP: 13.0% and FT: 84.4% in the 17 games. She has a dual citizenship: Ukrainian and Bulgarian. Mircheva is also a member of the Ukrainian senior national team.

   #4. Power forward Olesia Malashenko (189-91, also represented by LBM Management, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in France was not able to help Arras (1-9) in their last game. Despite Malashenko's very good performance the seventh-placed Arras lost 75-81 in Istanbul to the leading Fenerbahce in the group B of Euroleague. She was the top scorer with 20 points. Malashenko also added 7 rebounds in 35 minutes. There are only two games left until the end of the Euroleague Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This year Malashenko has relatively solid stats: 10.9ppg and 3.5rpg in the eight games. She used to play for the Ukrainian national team back in 2010.

   #5. International swingman Olena Samburska (172-89, another player represented by LBM Management, currently plays in Bulgaria) faced previously mentioned Olga Dubrovina in the Bulgarian NBL last game. Samburska, who plays in the Bulgarian NBL was not able to secure a victory for Montana 2003 (6-10) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite her very good performance Montana 2003 was defeated 76-70 at home by the leading Neftochimic. Samburska was the top scorer with 25 points. Samburska has reliable stats this season: 11.5ppg, 2.3rpg, 3.0apg and 1.3spg. She plays currently for the Ukrainian national team.

   #6. Forward Olga Maznichenko (187-91, another player represented by LBM Management, currently plays in Italy), who plays in the Italian A1 couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Pall.Pozzuoli (3-9) in their last game. Despite Maznichenko's good performance Pall.Pozzuoli lost 63-67 on the opponent's court to the higher-ranked (#7) Priolo. She was the second best scorer with 12 points. Maznichenko also added 7 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 21 minutes. Maznichenko's stats this year are: 13.3ppg, 7.1rpg, 1.3apg and 1.7spg in the seven games. She is a former international player as she played for the Ukrainian senior team two years ago.

   #7. Former U20 international center Alina Iordan (190-88, currently plays in Belarus) led Tsmoki-Minsk to a victory over the closely-ranked Berezina-RCOR (4-7) 65-46 in the Belarusian Premier League last Wednesday. She was MVP of the game. Iordan scored 22 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 30 minutes. BK Tsmoki-Minsk (10-2) is placed second in the Premier League. The Regular Season already ended. Iordan averaged so far 10.2ppg and 7.2rpg in the 12 games. She used to play for the Ukrainian U20 national team five years ago.

   #8. Forward Katerina Dorogobuzova (190-90, another player represented by LBM Management, currently plays in Hungary) contributed to an easy victory against the sixth-ranked MBK Eurl.Vasas (2-20) crushing them 85-51 in the Hungarian A Division on Thursday night. Dorogobuzova recorded 8 points. Bacsbasket Kft. Baja (18-4) is placed first in Places 9-14 group. Dorogobuzova is currently fifth on the list of top scorers. This season she has very good stats: 14.4ppg, 4.9rpg and 1.5spg. Dorogobuzova used to play for the Ukrainian national team back in 2011.

International center Lyubov Alyoshkina (203-81, currently plays in Belarus) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Gorizont (8-4) 77-60 in the Belarusian Premier League in Wednesday night's game. She scored 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 33 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. SBK Olimpia Grodno (11-0) is placed first in the Premier League. So far her team won all eleven games in the Regular Season. The Regular Season already ended. Alyoshkina is the league's best rebounder with 11.0rpg. She also averaged so far 11.8ppg, 1.4apg and 1.1spg in the 11 games. Alyoshkina is also in the roster of the Ukrainian national team.

Forward Olena Gulyamova (185-84, currently plays in Germany) contributed to Berlin's victory against the ninth-ranked SG BBZ Opladen 84-73 in the German 2.Bundesliga (12th division) on Saturday night. She scored 6 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 20 minutes. ASV Moabit Berlin (12-2) is placed second in North group. It was her team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. This year Gulyamova's overall stats are: 7.8ppg, 6.0rpg and 1.9apg in the 12 games. She is a former international player as seven years ago she still played for the Ukrainian senior national team.

   #11. U20 international center Anna Kiriyenko (190-93, currently plays in Belarus) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider BrGU COR Victoria crushing them 112-49 in the Belarusian Premier League in Wednesday night's game. Kiriyenko recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 16 rebounds. She also added 3 assists. Kiriyenko is currently fourth on the league's list of top scorers and also on the list of best rebounders (second place). She has individually a very good season with high stats. Kiriyenko averages: 15.4ppg, 10.0rpg and 1.3apg. She plays currently for the Ukrainian U20 national team.

   #12. Former international center Aleksandra Khomenchuk (202-89, currently plays in Belarus) faced previously mentioned Lyubov Alyoshkina in the Belarusian Premier League last game. Khomenchuk couldn't help Gorizont in their game against Olimpia GrGAU. She cannot count Wednesday's game as one of the best ones. Khomenchuk scored only 2 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 22 minutes. Her team was badly defeated by 17 points 77-60. Khomenchuk belongs to league's best rebounders and is ranked #3 with 9.7rpg. This year she also averages: 9.4ppg and 1.2apg in the 10 games. Khomenchuk used to play for the Ukrainian national team back in 2011.


The list of other players, who all have Ukrainian passport but never been selected to any of Ukrainian national teams:

   #1. Anna Sokolan (178-G-84, currently plays in Bulgaria) led Neftochimic to a victory against the fifth-ranked Montana 2003 (6-10) 76-70 in the Bulgarian NBL in Wednesday night's game. She scored 16 points and added 3 passes (went 6 for 6 at the free throw line). Neftochimic 2010 Burgas (16-0) is placed first in the NBL. So far her team won all sixteen games in the Regular Season. Sokolan is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's her seventh year in Neftochimic's roster. This season Sokolan has relatively solid stats: 10.3ppg, 3.3rpg, 2.0apg and 1.1spg. She has a dual citizenship: Ukrainian and Russian.

   #2. Yuliya Andreyeva (188-SF-83, currently plays in Eurocup), who plays in France could not help Nantes Reze (5-1) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Andreyeva's good performance Nantes Reze (#2) was crushed 79-57 on the road by the lower-ranked MBK Ruzomberok (#3) in the group D of Eurocup. She was the second best scorer with 11 points. Andreyeva has been at the team for eight years. Andreyeva's overall stats this season are: 6.7ppg and 2.4rpg. She is another player who holds two passports: Ukrainian and French.

   #3. Katia Levitsky (190-PF-85, agency: Data Plus Group, college: Villanova, currently plays in Israel) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion (4-9) 88-70 in the Israeli D1 in Monday night's game. Levitsky scored 13 points, had 7 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 25 minutes. Elitzur Ramla (9-5) is placed second in the D1. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Levitsky is currently fourth on the league's list of best blockers with 1.4bpg. She also averaged so far 10.1ppg, 5.5rpg and 1.8apg in the 13 games she played so far. Levitsky has both Ukrainian and Israeli nationalities.

   #4. Tatiana Shapochkina (179-G-85, currently plays in Belarus) led Olimpia GrGAU to a victory over the closely-ranked Gorizont (8-4) 77-60 in the Belarusian Premier League in Wednesday night's game. Shapochkina was MVP of the game. She scored 17 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. SBK Olimpia Grodno (11-0) is placed first in the Premier League. So far her team won all eleven games in the Regular Season. The Regular Season already ended. Shapochkina is ranked seventh on the list of the top scorers in the league and also on the list of most steals (fifth place). This season she has very good stats: 14.3ppg, 5.2rpg, 2.0apg and 2.7spg. Shapochkina also holds two passports: Ukrainian and Russian.

   #5. Experienced Tatiana Zotova (196-F-70, currently plays in Greece) managed to help Sony Athinaikos to win against the sixth-ranked Ikaros Kalitheas (7-7) 70-53 in the Greek A1 last Sunday. She recorded only 4 points. Sony Athinaikos (13-1) is placed second in the A1. It was her team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. Zotova's overall stats this season are: 1.4ppg and 2.2rpg.

   #6. Elena Staschuk (192-C-85, currently plays in Belarus) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider BrGU COR Victoria crushing them 112-49 in the Belarusian Premier League on Wednesday night. She scored 13 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Staschuk has individually a very good season with high stats. She averages: 18.7ppg, 9.0rpg and 1.3spg.

Montbrison Feminines BC (LF2) inked 25-year old Ukrainian ex-international power forward Olga Maznichenko (187-91, agency: LBM Management). She played most recently at Neftochimic in Bulgarian NBL league. In 18 games she recorded very impressive stats: 18.7ppg, 7.4rpg and 1.7apg last season. She helped them to make it to the semifinals. Canik Belediyesi Samsun (KBSL) agreed terms with 29-year old Ukrainian ex-international center Viktoria Mircheva (190-87, agency: Josep and Nicolas). She is a dual citizen owning also Bulgarian passport. Mircheva played last season at Istanbul Universitesi SK (KBSL). In 24 games she had 13.6ppg, 5.5rpg and 1.1apg. Mersin Universitesi (TKBL) re-signed 31-year old Ukrainian center Olena Staschuk (192-85). She has played there for the last two seasons. In 20 TKBL games she was second best scorer with impressive 23.2ppg and had 14.8rpg (#4 in the league), 1.6apg, 1.6spg and 1.6bpg last season.
