Arabadzhi number one in Ukrainian Higher League for round 27 - Mar 7, 2013

  follow us on Facebook Twitter

Former international guard Timur Arabadzhi (192-G-81) put on an amazing game in the last round for Avantazh-Pol., receiving a Higher League Player of the Week award for round 27.
The 31-year old player was the main contributor (31 points, three rebounds and seven assists) to his team's victory, helping them to crush Pulsar (#6, 10-14) with 24-point margin 97-73. Avantazh-Pol. maintains the 3rd position in Ukrainian Higher League. They are still close to the very top. Avantazh-Pol. would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 20-4 record. In the team's last game Arabadzhi had a remarkable 64.3% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Avantazh-Pol., through which he has constantly improved. Timur Arabadzhi has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (2nd best: 20.9ppg), assists (5th best: 4.8apg) and averages impressive 56.9% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was another Avantazh-Pol.'s star - young Anton Rochnyak (206-F-91). Rochnyak had a very good evening with a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds. Of course together with Arabadzhi he helped Avantazh-Pol. with another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Pulsar (#6, 10-14) 97-73. Avantazh-Pol.'s 3rd position in the standings has not changed. His team lost just four games this season, while they won 20 matches. Rochnyak is one of the most experienced players at Avantazh-Pol. and similarly like Timur Arabadzhi has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.2ppg (#3). He also registered 9.4 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was forward Oleg Demchuk (198-F-94) of Pulsar (#6). Demchuk scored 29 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Despite Demchuk's great performance Pulsar lost 73-97 to the higher-ranked Avantazh-Pol. (#3, 20-4). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Pulsar ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 14 games, recording just ten victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Demchuk could help Pulsar to bring them higher in the standings. Demchuk has a very solid season. In 9 games in Ukraine he scored 11.3ppg. He also has 4.9rpg, 1.3bpg and FGP: 58.3%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Boris Bereziuk (196-F/G-87) of Koksokh-Stal - 35 points and 5 rebounds
5. Igor Chumichev (209-C-89) of BK Kremen - 17 points and 4 rebounds
6. Yurii Koverga (190-G-86) of Khartsyzsk - 19 points and 3 rebounds
7. Andrii Horbatiuk (199-G-91) of Khartsyzsk - 17 points and 4 rebounds
8. Gleb Glebov (208-C-82) of BK Kremen - 9 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Edvard Fedchuk (180-G-91) of VolinBasket - 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Dmitri Lipovtsev (207-C-86) of Musson - 20 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Utah Jazz (NBA) waived 23-year old Ukrainian international forward Joel Bolomboy (206-107kg-94, college: Weber State). Bolomboy played there last season. But in 14 NBA games he recorded just 1.9ppg and 1.4rpg (leader !!!). Last year he was drafted by the Jazz in second round (52nd overall). Bolomboy attended Weber State until 2016 and it is his second season in pro basketball.
