Montenegro earned the second win at the 2013 EuroBasket. They fired past Ukraine in Vannes today to jump at 2-1 record in Group A. Jelena Dubljevic (191-C-87) was pivotal in the victory scoring 29 points, pulling down 6 boards and distributing 4 assists for the winners. Ukraine suffered the third straight loss and finished at the bottom of the standings.

Montenegro - Ukraine 72:60
Montenegro earned the second win at the 2013 EuroBasket. They fired past Ukraine in Vannes today to jump at 2-1 record in Group A. Jelena Dubljevic (191-C-87) was pivotal in the victory scoring 29 points, pulling down 6 boards and distributing 4 assists for the winners. Ukraine suffered the third straight loss and finished at the bottom of the standings. Ukraine looked solid in the first ten minutes. They posted a 14:8 lead midway through the starting frame. Ukraine entered the second period up by three points 19:16. But Montenegro opened the second term on an 11:3 rally to surge ahead. Dubrovina and Olexandra Kurasova (186-F-86) stopped the rot for Ukraine and gave the lead back to the team. But Jelena Dubljevic capped the half with two free throws to ensure a 31:30 lead for Montenegro. Jelena Dubljevic and Snezana Aleksic (173-G-89) took over late in the third term to give the Balkan team a 53:43 advantage. Jovanovic opened a 13-point lead for Montenegro early in the fourth frame. The margin gradually grew at 17-point mark and Montenegro never looked back en route to the victory. Iva Perovanovic (188-C/F-83) finished with 10 points, while Snezana Aleksic added 8 points for the winners. Alina Iagupova (186-G/F-92, agency: LBM Management) responded with 21 points for Ukraine. Olexandra Kurasova had 14 points and 7 rebounds in the loss.

Slovak Republic registered the first victory at the EuroBasket. They outscored Ukraine to improve at 1-1 record in Group A. Ukraine suffered the second straight loss to remain at the bottom of the ladder.

Dorogobuzova made two free throws for 28:20 at the end of the first period, but then Slovak Republic took control of the game. Klaudia Lukacovicova (193-C-90) tied the game at 31:31 and Slovakia erupted for 24-9 surge to take 44:37 at the halftime. Slovak Republic maintained the lead throughout the third term. They held Ukraine to 14 points in the period and ensured a 10-point lead heading into the fourth stanza. Slovak Republic led by as many as 12 points midway through the fourth term. But Zaritska scored six points in a row and Mircheva added two more as Ukraine got within 4 points 66:70 with under four minutes remaining. Tetemondova answered with a timely three-pointer to calm things down a bit. Lucia Kupcikova (184-F-84) made it 75:68 for Slovak Republic with just under two minutes remaining and the teams went scoreless in the reminder of the contest. Klaudia Lukacovicova provided 23 points and 9 boards for Slovak Republic. Lucia Kupcikova added 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Alina Iagupova answered with 17 points but committed 8 turnovers for Ukraine. Olexandra Kurasova (186-F-86) had 12 points in the loss.
