Hosts opened the game with 8-0 run after taking control on their opponents. Dynamo players managed to recover and by the end of the first quarter they did not allow hosts to extend their lead. After 10 minutes of play, Dnipro was up 16-8 and was looking good. Than, the rhythm of the game slowed somewhat as teams started to exchange baskets. Dnipro was still maintaining their lead not allowing its opponent to go on a run. At the halftime, the score stood at 35-26. After the break, Dynamo players started to put on the pressure on Dnipro but they could never come closer than to 3 point deficit. With one quarter left to play, hosts still held 6-point lead, as the scoreboard showed 53-47. In the final 10 minutes, Dnipro managed to fend off any attempt at comeback of Dynamo. In the end, they held on to their lead and celebrated 64-61 win. Olga Dubrovina (170-G-87) shined in victory with 21 points. Iuliya Iakhina (187-C-80) also had a decent game adding 13 points. Visitors (0-1) got 16 points and 9 rebounds from Taisiia Bovykina (190-C-89, agency: LBM Management).

Nine teams are going to participate in the championship. These are Dynamo-NPU Kyiv, Dnipro Dnepropetrovsk, Donbas Donetsk, BC Frankivsk, Yuzhna Palmira - ONAHT Odessa, TNU-Orlan Simferopol, Politekhnika Galitsiya Lviv and Kozachka-Zalk Zaporozhye. The 2009/2010 season will tip off on November 21st with two games. The Ukrainian Professional Basketball League (UPBL) is expected to have a great upcoming season. Nine teams are going to participate in the championship. These are Dynamo-NPU Kyiv, Dnipro Dnepropetrovsk, Donbas Donetsk, BC Frankivsk, Yuzhna Palmira - ONAHT Odessa, TNU-Orlan Simferopol, Politekhnika Galitsiya Lviv and Kozachka-Zalk Zaporozhye. The schedule was officially released yesterday. The defending champions Dynamo-NPU will play against BC Frankivsk, while Yuzhna Palmira will take on TNU-Orlan. On November 22nd two more games will close the first round. Dnipro will host Kozachka in the top game of the round, whilst Luganski Lastivki will play against Donbas. Meanwhile all the teams completed their rosters before the srart of the league. There might be some changes midway through the tournament. Tetiana Nechiporchuk, Yana Kirnitskaya (184-C-88) and Viktoria Pirogovska left Yuzhna Palmira as well as all the foreigners of the team. This season the squad will play without any foreigner. Politekhnika Galitsiya Lviv lost also all the foreigners as Serbian Snezana Mirkov (189-F/C-78, agency: Global Sports Plaza) and Sladana Todorovic (175-G-82) as well as Montenegrin Biljana Turcinovic (186-F-89) changed the teams.

Donbas Donetsk announced the changes in the roster and it seems that the team will battle for the same position as they finished last year. In 2008/2009 season the team from Donetsk ended up third in the league.
Some players left the team, however there are also some arrivals. Olga Lyashkova (185-G-80, agency: LBM Management) went to Dnipro, Natalia Kuzmichova left to Kazakhstan.

The Russian Forward started her carrer in 2004-2005 for Dynamo Kursk (A Superleague) and in 32 games averaged 5.6ppg, 3.1rpg, 1.0apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 39.0%, 3FGP: 23.0%. In 2005-2006 she continued with the team and even played in EuroCup. In 8 games she had 9.5ppg, 3.3rpg, 3.1apg, 1.4spg, FGP: 51.4%, 3FGP: 34.8%, FT: 80%, while in Russian Superleague's 31 games averaged 11.3ppg, 5.1rpg, 1.9apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 43.0%, 3PT: 36.0%, FT: 55.0%. In 2006-2007 Natalja Melenteva moved to Dynamo-Energia Novosybirsk (A Superleague) and in 25 games had 10.8ppg, 5.7rpg, 1.4apg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 45.0%, 3PT: 30.0%, FT: 66.0%. In 2007-2008 she appeared for Dynamo-Energia Novosybirsk (A Superleague) in 22 games and showed 8.9ppg, 3.1rpg, FGP: 44.0%, 3PT: 34.4%, FT: 86.0%. Last season the player spent in Dynamo-GUVD Novosibirsk (A Superleague) and in 21 games averaged 6.0ppg, 2.7rpg, FGP: 43.1%, 3PT: 25.0%, FT: 57.9%.
