Fifth-ranked SumDU (4-18) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Azovmash (15-9) in Sumy on Saturday. The visitors from Mariupol managed to secure only three-point victory 74-71. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of SumDU. Worth to mention a great performance of Kirilo Zuev who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 rebounds. Azovmash maintains second place with 15-9 record having just one point less than leader Zolotoi Vek. SumDU at the other side keeps the fifth position with 18 games lost. Azovmash will have a break next round. SumDU will play at home against the league's leader Krivbas-2 (#1) and hope to win that game.

Other games in round 19 were not that significant. Zolotoi Vek beat Niko-Basket on the road 76-75. Krivbas-2 destroyed Kremen-2 on its own court 93-57. Politekhn.Lvov managed to outperform Ternopil-TNEU in Lviv 102-88. Khimik-2 rolled over KPZO DYUSH at home 83-56. BC-93 RSzVSM defeated Ch.Mavpy 2 on the opponent's court 74-66. Krivbas-2 beat Kremen-2 in a home game 94-80. Zolotoi Vek won against Niko-Basket on the road 83-71. SumDU managed to outperform Azovmash on its own court 74-70.
The most impressive performance of 19th round was 27 points and 9 assists by Dmytro Khodov of Politekhn.Lvov.

Niko-Basket - Zolotoi Vek 75-76

No shocking result in a game when first ranked Zolotoi Vek (19-3) edged 4th placed Niko-Basket (9-13) in Mykolaiv 76-75 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-12. But Niko-Basket won second period 22-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zolotoi Vek forced 20 Niko-Basket turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Zolotoi Vek made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of Gleb Buzko (192-92) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Center Yevgen Vornik (208-86) contributed with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winners. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 17-13. But Azovmash won second period 14-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. SumDU looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a very good performance for point guard Igor Starodub (188-97) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. Forward Oleksiy Taskinov (201-82) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Guard Yevgen Bumbur (193-93) answered with 23 points and forward Oleksiy Momotenko (203-92) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Azovmash. Azovmash's coach Sergei Zavalin tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. SumDU maintains fifth place with 4-18 record. Loser Azovmash keeps the second position with nine games lost. SumDU will face league's leader Krivbas-2 in Kryvyi Rih in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

Obradoiro and Artem Pustovyi (218-C-92, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) have agreed on terms of contract extension. The Ukrainian centre will stay with the team through 2019.
