The Regular Season in Higher League just ended. There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with defeat of the leader.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Hoverla (19-5) in Lviv on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Politekhn.Lvov (19-5) 70-65. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Hoverla trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 17-10 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 65-70 at the end of the game. Politekhn.Lvov dominated on the defensive end, holding Hoverla to just 6 points in third quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Andriy Kobets (192-93, agency: AproK Sports Group) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and center Roman Novikov (204-92, agency: AproK Sports Group) who added 19 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. point guard Kyrylo Podkovyrov (180-96) responded with 30 points. Politekhn.Lvov keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Khimik-2 and Hoverla.
Important game to mention about took place in Cherkasy. Seventh ranked KPZO DYUSH (2-22) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 6th ranked Ch.Mavpy 2 (3-21) 57-55 on Sunday evening. The winners were led by center Pavlo Riazantsev (202-95) who scored that evening 9 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and Oleksandr Fomenko supported him with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 20 points by forward Rostislav Lunskiy (189-97) did not help to save the game for Ch.Mavpy 2. Newly promoted KPZO DYUSH maintains seventh position with 2-22 record. Ch.Mavpy 2 at the other side keeps the sixth place with 21 games lost. They share the position with Kremen-2.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Kirovograd. First ranked host Zolotoi Vek (20-4) smashed 3rd ranked Dnipro-2 (11-13) 112-75. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Dnipro-2. The best player for the winners was Andriy Kulish who scored 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Olexandr Tarasenko produced 21 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Zolotoi Vek maintains first position with 20-4 record, which they share with Krivbas-2. Newly promoted Dnipro-2 dropped to the fourth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Niko-Basket.

Olexandr Tarasenko orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 13 rebounds. Dnipro-2's coach Oleksandr Muntian allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Dnipro-2 went down to fourth position due to points difference, which they share with Niko-Basket. Zolotoi Vek at the other side still keeps top place with four games lost.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Lviv. One of their biggest challengers host Politekhn.Lvov (19-5) lost to first ranked Hoverla (19-5) 80-70. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Worth to mention a great performance of Roman Gumeniuk who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 5 rebounds. Hoverla maintains first position with 19-5 record, which they share with Khimik-2 and Politekhn.Lvov.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 20: Krivbas-2 won against SumDU on the opponent's court 91-83. BC-93 RSzVSM outscored Ternopil-TNEU in a home game 95-71. Niko-Basket rolled over Kremen-2 on the road 103-80. Kremen-2 was crushed by Niko-Basket on its own court 61-105. Ternopil-TNEU was smashed by BC-93 RSzVSM in Rovno 88-67. SumDU was destroyed by Krivbas-2 at home 51-83.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 20 points and 5 rebounds by Evgen Odazhny of Ternopil-TNEU.

SumDU - Krivbas-2 83-91

Very expected game in Sumy where 5th ranked SumDU (4-20) was defeated by first ranked Krivbas-2 (20-4) 91-83 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 30-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Krivbas-2 dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to SumDU's 38. Krivbas-2 forced 22 SumDU turnovers. SumDU was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Evgeni Sergeychik (185-94) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 5 assists and Andrii Bondarenko (199-95) who added 15 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Forward Sergei Glinchak (-89) responded with 15 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and Vitaliy Ignatchenko (188-91) scored 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked BC-93 Pulsar's (12-12) home victory over 5th ranked Ternopil-TNEU (10-14) 95-71 on Sunday. The game without a history. BC-93 Pulsar led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. BC-93 Pulsar forced 21 Ternopil-TNEU turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 58.6 percentage. BC-93 Pulsar looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Nazar Kisilchuk (194-97) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and guard Sergei Markov (180-86) who added 20 points (perfect from downtown making all six shots !!!) during the contest. Four BC-93 Pulsar players scored in double figures. Vladislav Ungurian responded with 18 points and 8 rebounds and center Evgen Odazhny (210-92) scored 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted BC-93 Pulsar maintains fourth position with 12-12 record. Ternopil-TNEU lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 14 games lost.

The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-51. Krivbas-2 dominated on the defensive end, holding SumDU to just 2 points in fourth quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to SumDU's 36. They outrebounded SumDU 46-26 including a 34-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Krivbas-2 looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by SumDU's players.
