Devon Van Oostrum in Sofia: Overall Great Britain did alright - Jul 23, 2012

Devon Van Oostrum is considered by many to be one of the top 93' prospects in Europe. The Dutch-born British point guard just got off a stellar performance in the U20 Division B European championship in Sofia, Bulgaria, but that wasn't enough for Team GB to win a promotion as they finished fifth. Van Oostrum averaged 19.6 points, 6.4 assists, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 36.3 minutes per contest.

About the performance of team Great Britain in Sofia:

We started really well, but we obviously messed up in the game against Finland and after that against the Czech Republic, which more or less cost us the shot at a spot in Division A. From there things went downhill for us, but overall I can say that we did alright.

About the Bulgarian team:

I watched the game of Bulgaria against Poland and I think that they worked really hard in order to win it. Overall as a team they weren't that better than Poland, but as I said they worked harder, they won the game, and after that they won promotion to Division A as they definitely deserved it.

About his future with Caja Laboral:

I don't know what I'll be doing next season, whether I will be with Caja Laboral's first team or maybe going on loan somewhere again like last year. It's more likely to go on loan than to stay with the first team. As of now I know as much as you do.
