Wedemire and Harrison Return To Rocks - Jul 30, 2012

EJ Harrison
Glasgow Rocks are proud to announce that they have completed the re-signing of 2 integral players from last season's roster for the 2012/13 BBL season. Veteran guard, EJ Harrison (186-PG-76, college: Connecticut) has decided to come back to Glasgow for another season along with Canadian/British forward, Andrew Wedemire (198-G/F).

It's finally official, rising star, Andy Wedemire, has signed with the Glasgow Rocks for another season. The 6'6" forward will no doubt, play an integral role in the success of the Glasgow Rocks, especially after putting up some impressive numbers in his rookie professional campaign in 2011/12. Wedemire, who became renowned for being an 'impact' player coming off the bench at the Rocks, averaged 10.3 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists a game last season.

'Andy exceeded our expectations last season. The biggest positive we saw in him was his progression and ability to adjust as the season went along. I feel he has a lot more to give this league with his talent and we're glad to have such a quality player and person back in our jersey.'

To complete the double signing, the Glasgow Rocks can also confirm that they have secured the signature of Veteran point guard EJ Harrison for a third consecutive season.

Harrison, originally from Connecticut in the USA, had a difficult 2011/12 BBL Season. Early in the season he sustained a serious ankle injury which saw him miss a large portion of fixtures spanning over 2 months, this was compounded with a family bereavement later in the season. Despite Harrison only playing in half of the Rocks scheduled fixtures, he was still a very influential player in the squad averaging 13.7 points, 3.0 assists per game and shooting an impressive 53% from the field.

Harrison will be looking to come into this season with a fresh new perspective on things and has confirmed that he has only one thing on his mind.

'I'm very happy to be back with the Glasgow Rocks for a Third season. My objective this year is to bring silverware back to Glasgow.'

On the other hand, Rocks player/coach Sterling Davis had an objective of his own at the end of last season and it is slowly coming to fruition.

'I really wanted to focus on bringing back the majority of players from last season so that we could build on what we achieved late in the season. EJ was always my first choice to fill the point guard position and I am very happy that we were able to sign him for a third time. He had a tough 2011/12 campaign but showed great determination and strength of mind to finish off the season the way he did. His leadership, experience and work ethic are second to none and I am looking forward to playing with him again.'

The acquisition of both Harrison and Wedemire gives the Rocks a solid foundation to work with, as Coach Davis now swings his focus on signing on another 2 import players to help bulk up his roster.

The Rocks management will be hoping to announce some more news in the coming weeks along with confirmed dates of pre-season fixtures and a detailed breakdown of the first Home game of the Season, which is to be played at the Brand New Commonwealth Arena on the 7th October against the reigning BBL Champions, Newcastle Eagles.
