Belyakova
UNITED KINGDOM - RUSSIA 61-67

Russia advanced to the Quarterfinals of 2012 Olympic Games. They celebrated 67-61 victory against the home team and jumped to 3-0 in Group B, what is already enough for the next stage. UK faced with third straight loss in London. Eugeniya Belyakova (182-SF-86) top-scored in Russia with 12 points (6 rebounds) and Marina Kuzina (195-C-85) had two points less. Olga Arteshina (188-PF-82) and Becky Hammon (175-PG-77, agency: Josep and Nicolas, college: Colorado St.) (6 as) netted 9 and 8 points respectively. Natalie Stafford (175-SG-76) answered with 18 points for the hosts and Johannah Leedham (180-SF-87, college: Franklin Pierce) had 14.
-Britain went on a 12-2 run to open the game, but Russia took the lead on the last shot of the opening quarter at 16-14 and never trailed again. Russia's Ilona Korstin scored five straight points late in the game to hold off Britain, which closed the gap to three (61-58) with 56 seconds to play after its captain Johannah Leedham made one of two free throws. But Korstin hit three of four free throws and nailed a jumper in between to secure Russia's unexpectedly close win over the Olympic newcomer. - (courtesy of www.greenfieldreporter.com)
Russia will play against Australia in two days, while UK will take on France.

United Kingdom: Natalie Stafford 18, Johannah Leedham 14
Russia: Eugeniya Belyakova 12+6 boards, Marina Kuzina 10, Olga Arteshina 9+6 as, Becky Hammon 8
