Russia opened U20 EuroBasket with victory. They outplayed United Kingdom on Thursday 55-49 for 1-0 record in Preliminary Group D. Participants of this pool are also Slovakia and Serbia. Alexandra Stolyar (178-G-92) scored 13 points for the winners and Ksenia Tikhonenko (190-F/C-93, agency: Ryzhov Stanislav) helped her team with 9 points plus 11 rebounds. Galina Kiseleva (182-F-93) followed them with 8 points in this game. United Kingdom got 16 points and 7 boards from Renee E. Busch (175-G-92) and she was their only player with double digits in scoring. Cheridene Green (187-C-95) was close to double-double with 9 points and 12 rebounds, while Olufemi Hamilton (170-G-93) stopped to 8 points.
