Glasgow Rocks have added some extra length and talent to their backcourt with the acquisition of 6'4" guard, Donald Robinson (193-F, college: W.Virginia Tech). Robinson will be coming off a successful 2011/12 season with West Virginia Tech, where he averaged 15ppg and 2.5 apg.
The 6'4" athletic guard will have big shoes to fill as he effectively replaces last season's stand out player Mychal Green, who recently signed with AS SOLEUVRE in Luxemburg. Green will be sorely missed, but Coach Davis is confident that Robinson will be a worthy adversary in the absence of Green.
Coach Davis had this to say: "I spotted Donald in a showcase in Vegas where he really stood out on all dimensions. He is long and very athletic for his position and can really put the ball in the basket. I think he has the versatility to play 3 positions on the floor if need be with the shooting guard his primary position. I think he will definitely do well in the league once he gets used to the style of play just as any other newcomer to the league."
With Robinson now confirmed for the 2012/13 season the Rocks are very close to having a full roster with only a few spots remaining to fill. These positions will be announced in the coming days with the squad due to begin their official pre-season training on the 3rd September. This season should be a memorable one for the Glasgow based side as they get ready to make the move to their new Home in the East End of Glasgow at the Brand New Commonwealth Arena!
Glasgow Rocks General Manager, Daniel Bajwoluk, is excited about the upcoming season and all that it could bring; "We believe we have a very talented and capable squad that will do Glasgow proud both on and off the court this season. Our scheduled move to the Brand New Commonwealth Arena in the East End has really given us all something to look forward to and everyone associated with the club is expecting 2012/13 to be a very memorable season for us".
Rocks fans are reminded that they will get their first glimpse of the new look team on September 9th when the Glasgow Rocks host the USA Select Squad at the Kelvin Hall ISA, tip-off @ 5:00pm. Tickets for this event are now online at www.glasgowrocks.co.uk.
The Rocks first Official Home BBL Fixture will take place on the 7th October at the Brand New Commonwealth Arena @ 5:00pm when they take on the reigning BBL Champions, Newcastle Eagles.

Leicester Riders took another step to rebuilding their championship winning team, by announcing the return of guard Jorge Calvo (190-G-87).
The 25 year old point guard, born in Ponferrada, Spain, was a huge hit with the Rider's fans last season, with his tenacious defence and in ability to run the offence, but also for his hugely engaging manner off the court. He was the first Spaniard to win a BBL Championship.
Calvo was very keen to return to the Jelson Homes DMU backed Riders, "From very early on with the Riders, as I came to understand the great mix of players we had, I was really keen to make Leicester more than a one year stop. I believe this is a team that can get better, and I can get better with the team."
"Playing in the BBL is a different challenge to Spain, but I think it is helping to develop my game. I will be looking to do things a little different, add some things to what I bring to the Riders, but it is really working with my team-mates and coaches that will help make the difference."
"I was also excited to see that Drew Sullivan had re-signed, because he is such an important player in our team. He and Rob (Paternostro) our coach are what make the big difference to the team, so that just reinforced my keenness to come back."
Calvo thinks Riders will have it much tougher in the BBL next season, but is looking forward to the challenge, "For sure, teams are going to be gunning for Leicester, and it will be difficult. We set a standard this season, and other teams will be out to put one over on us. But I think the Riders can get better, and particularly if we can keep most of the squad together."
Paternostro was very excited to have Calvo back, "Jorge is hugely under-rated in my opinion. He handles himself extremely well, is a very smart player, and is very much a team guy. There are a lot of decisions to make in his position on the court, particularly in terms of getting other guys involved in the offence, and that is where Jorge excels."
