Surrey Heat forward Julius Joseph (193-F-75, college: Georgia Coll.) is excited about the start his side have made to the BBL Championship season.

The Heat followed up their big opening weekend victory against Mersey Tigers with a road win at One Health Sharks Sheffield, and Joseph is delighted with how their new-look team have gelled:

"We've had a really good start, and we're playing some good basketball" said the 37-year-old who is now in his fourth straight season with the Heat.

"Obviously we need to keep it up, but we're gelling well together. We really have a good team chemistry, and it's better than it has been for a couple of years. It's not a case of building on it, focussing and staying on track.

"The new guys have brought a whole new chemistry to the team, we try to share the ball and get the best shot. It's become more about the collective than any individual."

Heat travel to Crystal Palace on Friday to face London Lions, and Joseph is also looking forward to playing against former Heat players Mike Martin and Tayo Ogengdenbe: "It'll be a lot of fun. It'll also be a bit strange, but that's the name of the game and how the business works.

"I saw them play last week, and they're a very athletic team. They have a lot of players and go deep into their bench. They play with a lot of energy and passion, they're going to be a really tough team to face.

"Orlan Jackman seems to be playing really well and he stood out on the floor, but they have a lot of weapons and on any given day a different player can step up and score. I'm surprised they've started with three losses."

As well as Friday's game, both teams are home on Sunday with the Heat hosting former coach Paul James and the Worcester Wolves at 3pm, and Lions facing Durham Wildcats in the BBL Cup - tip-off 5pm.

BBL Round Up Sat 25 Feb - 1 day ago
There was drama on Saturday night as Bristol Flyers' clinched an exciting first ever home win in the BBL Championship against London Lions as a buzzer-beating three-point shot from Brandon Boggs (196-G-92, college: W.Carolina, agency: SPORTlab Agency) facilitated a 73-72 triumph. BBL Round-Up Friday 24 Feb - 2 days ago
Plymouth Raiders advanced to their first BBL final for five years as they overcame Worcester Wolves, despite losing 90-83 in the second leg. The Raiders had an 18-point cushion from the first leg but saw that advantage wiped out inside the first 15 minutes before recovering to complete the job. Donte Nicholas and Cory Dixon combined for 45 points for Plymouth, while Trevor Setty(203-G/F-89, college: Pikeville) had a game-high 26 points in an inspired display for the Wolves.
