Sunday saw three hard-fought contests that saw Cheshire, UCP Marjon Plymouth Raiders and Glasgow Rocks pick up victories to help them continue to keep the pressure on those at the summit of the BBL Championship table.

Cheshire were made to work extremely hard as they picked up a slender 83-81 victory over Manchester Giants at the Northgate Arena to move themselves into joint eighth position with the Durham Wildcats.

A pair of Stefan Gill free-throws had given the Giants an 80-81 lead with 18 seconds left in the game, but Chez Marks was allowed to have the final shot of the game and he nailed a three-pointer with eight seconds left to hand Cheshire the all-important victory.

Marks's 31 point haul was matched by Gill for the Giants in the game, but it was Marks who had the last laugh as Cheshire were able to move themselves up the table.

The Rocks made the long trip to Surrey on Sunday afternoon and picked up an impressive 76-82 victory over the Surrey Heat at Surrey Sports Park.

24 points from Kieron Achara helped the Rocks to victory, and despite a strong effort from the Heat who closed the gap to four points at 72-76 in the final period, the visitors remained strong down the stretch and were able to secure the victory from the foul-line.

The biggest victory of the day however went to the Raiders as they picked up a 108-98 victory over the London Lions at Plymouth Pavilions.

The Raiders had lead by as many as 21 points at 98-77, but the Lions came back strongly with a 15-1 burst to trim the deficit back to just seven points at 99-92. That was as close as the visitors would be able to get however as the Raiders secured the victory from the foul-line and as a result, move themselves up into fourth position in the table.

Plymouth Raiders advanced to their first BBL final for five years as they overcame Worcester Wolves, despite losing 90-83 in the second leg. The Raiders had an 18-point cushion from the first leg but saw that advantage wiped out inside the first 15 minutes before recovering to complete the job. Donte Nicholas and Cory Dixon combined for 45 points for Plymouth, while Trevor Setty(203-G/F-89, college: Pikeville) had a game-high 26 points in an inspired display for the Wolves.
