We bring you last week's top performances from British players who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international forward Luol Deng (206-85, agency: Interperformances, college: Duke, currently plays in NBA). He was the major contributor in a Chicago Bulls' victory against the New York Knicks (16-5) 93-85 in the NBA in Saturday night's game. Deng scored 22 points, had 5 boards, passed 3 assists and added 3 steals in 47 minutes on the court. The Chicago Bulls have 11-9 record this season. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. It's Deng's ninth year with the team. He has individually a very good season with high stats. Deng averages: 17.8ppg, 7.1rpg, 2.9apg, 2FGP: 47.5%, 3FGP: 32.8% and FT: 83.8% in the 20 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: British and Sudanese. Deng is currently a member of the British senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international guard Ben Gordon (188-83, college: Connecticut, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA. He could not help the Charlotte Bobcats (7-13) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Gordon's very good performance the Charlotte Bobcats were edged 100-98 on the road by the New York Knicks. He scored 17 points. But the season just started, so everything may happen. It's Gordon's first year with the team. This season Gordon has very high stats. He averages: 14.2ppg, 2.1rpg, 2.4apg, 2FGP: 43.4%, 3FGP: 47.1%(41-87) and FT: 85.0%. Gordon is a naturalized American. He is in the roster of the British senior national team. Strangely Gordon has never played in United Kingdom.

   #3. The British player who performed third best last week abroad was former international forward Dante Cunningham (203-87, college: Villanova, currently plays in NBA). He led Minnesota Timberwolves to an easy victory against the Philadelphia 76ers (12-9) 105-88 in the NBA last Tuesday. Cunningham scored 13 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 25 minutes. The Minnesota Timberwolves have 9-9 record this season. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. Cunningham has relatively good stats this year: 7.9ppg, 5.1rpg, 2FGP: 49.6% and FT: 72.2% in the 18 games. He is a naturalized American. Cunningham played for the British national team four years ago. Apparently he has never played in United Kingdom.

   #4. Forward Matthew Bryan-Amaning (205-88, also represented by Interperformances, college: Washington, currently plays in Adriatic League) led his Serbian team Radnicki KG to a victory against the tenth-ranked KK Split (5-7) 72-63 in the Adriatic League on Saturday night. Bryan-Amaning scored 16 points, had 4 rebounds and made 2 blocks; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his second season in pro basketball. Radnicki Kragujevac (7-5) is placed sixth in the Adriatic League. It's Bryan-Amaning's first year with the team. Bryan-Amaning's overall stats this season are: 8.7ppg and 4.1rpg. He is another player who holds two passports: Ghanian and British. Bryan-Amaning is also British national team player.

   #5. International power forward Ryan Richards (212-91, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Poland was not able to help Asseco Prokom Gdynia (1-8) in their last game. Despite his good performance the sixth-placed Asseco Prokom Gdynia was badly defeated 89-73 in Tel-Aviv by the leading Maccabi T-A in the group B of Euroleague. Richards scored 10 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 24 minutes. It was Asseco Prokom Gdynia's sixth consecutive loss in a row. His team will play only one more game in the Euroleague Regular Season. And that game will be critical. This year Richards' overall stats are: 4.8ppg and 2.8rpg in the four games. He used to play for the British national team last year.

Power forward Dzaflo Larkai (203-81, agency: Top Notch Sports, college: Bellarmine, currently plays in Japan) contributed to an easy victory against the fourth-ranked Fukuoka Rizing (11-7) 97-79 in the Japanese BJ League last Saturday. Larkai scored 20 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Ryukyu Golden Kings Okinawa (15-1) is placed first in Western group. It was his team's 15th consecutive victory in a row. Larkai's total stats this season are: 8.5ppg and 6.0rpg. He is a former international player as he played for the British senior team four years ago.

International guard Kyle Johnson (195-88, college: LIU Brooklyn, currently plays in Italy) was not able to secure a victory for Sutor Montegranaro (3-8) in their game against Cimberio Varese (10-1) in the Italian SerieA, despite his very good performance last Sunday. Johnson scored 14 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 28 minutes; not bad, considering it's only his second season in pro basketball. But Sutor Montegranaro was badly defeated 106-88 in Varese by the leading Cimberio. This year Johnson's total stats are: 6.7ppg and 3.5rpg in the 11 games. He is also British national team player.

Forward Laurence Ekperigin (201-88, college: Le Moyne, currently plays in Italy) couldn't help FCM Ferentino (1-8) in their game against Tezenis VE (6-4) in the Italian Lega2 (second division). Despite his very good performance on Saturday night Ekperigin recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 17 rebounds. It's Ekperigin's first season with the team. Ekperigin is currently second on the league's list of best rebounders and also on the list of best blockers (fifth place). This season he has very high stats. Ekperigin averages: 16.9ppg, 11.8rpg, 1.1bpg and 2.0spg. He is a naturalized American. Ekperigin used to play for the British national team last year. Interesting that he has never played in United Kingdom.

International forward Ashley Hamilton (201-88, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to an overtime Loyola Mary's victory against the Northern Arizona University 92-86 in the NCAA in Wednesday night's game. Hamilton scored 24 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 35 minutes. The Loyola Marymount University has conference record this season. Hamilton is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fifth year in Loyola Mary's roster. He has very impressive stats this season: 16.9ppg, 11.8rpg, 1.1bpg and 2.0spg in the nine games. Hamilton used to play for the British national team last year.

   #10. Guard Devon Van Oostrum (190-93, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Caceres Basket (3-7) in their game against Ford Burgos (8-2) in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division). Despite his very good performance last Friday He was the second best scorer with 14 points. Van Oostrum also added 4 rebounds and 8 assists. Van Oostrum has averaged so far 10.0ppg, 3.0rpg and 2.6apg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior British National Team roster.

   #11. Former U20 international forward Will Neighbour (208-90, currently studies in the States) couldn't help the UALR in their game against the University of Cincinnati in the NCAA, despite his good performance on Thursday night. Neighbour recorded 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 25 minutes. But his team was crushed by 34 points 87-53. Neighbour has averaged so far 10.0ppg, 3.0rpg and 2.6apg in the 10 games. He used to play for the British U20 national team two years ago.

   #12. International point guard Ogooluwa Adegboye (182-87, college: St.Bonaventure, currently plays in EuroChallenge) couldn't help the league outsider Etha in their game against Tofas in the EuroChallenge. Despite his good performance in Tuesday night's game Adegboye was the second best scorer with 10 points. He also added 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Adegboye has averaged so far 9.3ppg, 2.2rpg and 2.0apg. He is also in the roster of the British national team.

   #13. International forward Joel Freeland (208-87, currently plays in NBA) couldn't help the Portland Trail Blazers in their game against the Sacramento Kings in the NBA. Freeland cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points. His team were badly defeated by 19 points 99-80 in the NBA. Freeland has averaged so far 2.2ppg and 1.8rpg. He is also British national team player.

   #14. International point guard Justin Robinson (187-87, agency: Two Points, college: Rider, currently plays in Ukraine) couldn't help BC Kyiv in their game against Dnipro in the Ukrainian Superleague. Despite his very good performance last Tuesday Robinson recorded 13 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Robinson has averaged so far 9.6ppg, 2.2rpg and 3.5apg. He used to play for the British national team last year.

   #15. International power forward Daniel Clark (210-88, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Asefa Estudiantes in their game against Real Madrid in the Spanish ACB. Clark scored 5 points in 12 minutes. His team lost 74-87. Clark has averaged so far 2.7ppg and 2.1rpg in the seven games. He is also in the roster of the British national team.


The list of other players, who all have British passport but never been selected to any of British national teams:

   #1. Byron Mullens (213-C-89, college: Ohio St., currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA could not help the Charlotte Bobcats (7-13) in their last game. Despite his good performance the Charlotte Bobcats lost 96-104 on the road to the Golden State Warriors. Mullens scored 13 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 29 minutes. It was Bobcats' eighth consecutive loss in a row. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. Mullens has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 11.9ppg, 7.7rpg and 1.3apg in the 20 games he played so far. Mullens is a naturalized American. Apparently he has never played in United Kingdom.

   #2. Experienced Darren Phillip (201-F-78, college: Fairfield, currently plays in Argentina) led Union Progresista to a 3-point victory over the closely-ranked GECR Indalo (9-14) 82-79 in the Argentinian LigaA in Sunday night's game. Phillip was MVP of the game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 31 points and getting 21 rebounds. Phillip also added 2 blocks. Union Progresista (8-14) is placed 13th in the LigaA. It was his team's first victory after three consecutive loses. It's Phillip's first season with the team. Phillip is currently first on the league's list of top scorers and also on the list of best rebounders (first place). This season he has very high stats. Phillip averages: 20.1ppg, 12.3rpg, 1.2apg and 1.2spg. He is a naturalized American. Apparently Phillip has never played in United Kingdom.

   #3. Keith Rendleman (203-F-90, currently plays college basketball in the States) led NC-Wilmington to an easy victory against the Coker College (11-7) 62-47 in the NCAA on Wednesday night. Rendleman had a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 13 rebounds. He also added 2 blocks and 6 steals in 35 minutes. The Univ. of N.Carolina-Wilmington has conference record this season. Rendleman is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in NC-Wilmington's roster. This season Rendleman's total stats are: 8.5ppg and 6.0rpg in the 15 games.

   #4. Oladapo Ayuba (198-F-86, college: UMKC, currently plays in EuroChallenge) was not able to help Norrkoping Dolphins (2-4) in their game against Tampereen Pyrinto (2-4) in the EuroChallenge. Despite his very good performance in Tuesday night's game He was the second best scorer with 15 points. Ayuba also added 3 passes. The Regular Season already ended in the EuroChallenge. Ayuba is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Norrkoping Dolphins' roster. This season he has relatively solid stats: 11.8ppg, 6.7rpg and 1.3apg. Ayuba is a naturalized American. Interesting that he has never played in United Kingdom.

   #5. Sullivan Phillips (198-G/F-79, college: Wash.Adventist, currently plays in Germany) led BG Goettingen to a victory against the ninth-ranked Finke Baskets (6-7) 85-80 in the German ProA (second division) last Saturday. Phillips recorded 13 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists in 33 minutes. BG Goettingen (10-3) is placed first in the ProA. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Phillips has relatively solid stats: 12.3ppg, 5.6rpg and 4.0apg in the 13 games. He has a dual citizenship: Bermudas and British.

   #6. Brendon Polyblank (197-G/F-78, college: Texas St., currently plays in Switzerland) contributed to an easy victory against the seventh-ranked Neuchatel 76-60 in the Swiss LNA in Saturday night's game. Polyblank recorded 12 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in 28 minutes. This year Polyblank has relatively solid stats: 10.2ppg, 4.6rpg, 1.7apg and 1.1spg in the 10 games. He is another player who holds two passports: British and New Zealand.

   #7. Lee Jeka (187-G-83, agency: Limelight Hoops, currently plays in Germany) was the major contributor in a Science City Jena's victory against the tenth-ranked Ehingen/Urspringschule 83-69 in the German ProA (second division) on Saturday night. Jeka recorded 14 points in 28 minutes. Jeka is ranked seventh on the list of the best passers in the league with 4.7apg. This year his other stats are: 12.5ppg and 3.3rpg in the 13 games. Jeka has both British and Australian nationalities.

   #8. Shane Walker (208-F-87, college: Loyola, MD, currently plays in EuroChallenge) was not able to secure a victory for Apollon in their game against Gravelines-Dunkerque in the EuroChallenge, despite his good performance last Tuesday. He scored 10 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 36 minutes. It was his first game for Apollon this season. But his team was crushed by 24 points 88-64.

   #9. Andrew Thomson (205-F-84, college: Catawba, currently plays in France) contributed to an La Rochelle's victory against the closely-ranked Chartres 75-69 in the French NM1 (third division) in Saturday night's game. Thomson recorded 11 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists in 26 minutes. He has averaged so far 10.0ppg, 5.2rpg and 1.1spg in the nine games.

   #10. Paul Guede (195-G/F-87, agency: Interperformances, college: Portland St., currently plays in Germany) is a teammate of previously mentioned Sullivan Phillips and both played together in the last German ProA game. Guede contributed to a BG Goettingen's victory against the ninth-ranked Finke Baskets 85-80. He recorded 6 points. Guede has averaged so far 8.2ppg, 3.3rpg and 1.4apg.
