Worcester Wolves got their BBL Trophy campaign off to a winning start with an impressive 90-77 home victory against a short-handed UCP Marjon Plymouth Raiders.

The hosts overpowered their opponents during the final quarter with a super 22 points and 11 rebounds from Lithuanian centre Arturas Masiulis (210-C-80) central to their success, whilst Raiders laboured due to a lack of depth and falling into some serious foul trouble.

In the capital, Cheshire Phoenix claimed a thrilling 92-88 BBL Trophy win to condemn London Lions to a fourth successive loss in all competitions.

In a really exciting and offensively orientated contest, the visitors managed to do the business in crunch time with veteran forward Shawn Myers claiming a double-double of 23 points and 13 rebounds.

Meanwhile in the only BBL Championship game to be played on Friday night, a second-half capitulation by basement dwellers Mersey Tigers prevented them from posting their first success of the season.

They went down 96-65, having led by double-digits during the second quarter.

Backcourt duo Stefan Gill and Devan Bailey led the Giants with a combined 41 points, as Giants moved above Sharks into ninth spot.
