Mensah-Bonsu
EA7 Emporio Armani Milano (SerieA) is close to sign 30-year old British ex-international forward Pops Mensah-Bonsu (206-83, college: G.Washington, agency: SportsTalent). The last season Mensah-Bonsu played at Besiktas in Turkish TBL. In 33 games last year he recorded 12.8ppg and 7.8rpg. He helped them to win the league title (in both Turkish League and EuroChallenge !!!) and the cup. Great season indeed as he was awarded Eurobasket.com All-Turkish League Center of the Year and voted to 1st Team and voted to All-Imports Team. Mensah-Bonsu also played 11 games in EuroChallenge where he averaged impressive 18.5ppg, 11.8rpg, 1.3apg and 1.0bpg. A very good season in his career as he was awarded Eurobasket.com All-EuroChallenge Player of the Year.
The previous (10-11) season Mensah-Bonsu played at ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket in French ProA. In 14 games that season he averaged impressive 16.5ppg, 9.3rpg, 1.3apg and 1.4spg. He contributed to his team making it to the semifinals. Mensah-Bonsu also played at the Hornets in NBA earlier that season. But in 7 games that year he averaged just 0.3ppg and 1.6rpg. The other team he played shortly was Caja Laboral in Spanish ACB. In 7 games he averaged only 0.3ppg and 1.6rpg. Mensah-Bonsu received All-Atlantic 10 Most Improved Player of the Year award back in 2004 at his college time. Mensah-Bonsu also represented United Kingdom at the Olympic Games in London (United Kingdon) last year. His stats at that event were 4 games: 11.5ppg, 7.3rpg, 1.0apg, FGP: 45.5%, FT: 76.2%.
Mensah-Bonsu has played also professionally in Russia (CSKA Moscow), NBA (New Orleans Hornets, Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs and Toronto Raptors) and D-League (Austin Toros).
He attended George Washington University until 2006 and it will be his seventh season in pro basketball.
