Baldarelli
Sunday saw two big games in the BBL Championship which went in the favour of the road teams as the Durham Wildcats and UCP Marjon Plymouth Raiders picked up victories to keep their respective play-off aspirations alive.

The Wildcats enjoyed a double-winning weekend as their victory over the Raiders on Friday night was followed up in convincing fashion with an 82-94 victory over the Cheshire Phoenix at the Northgate Arena.

The result means that the Wildcats move themselves into joint ninth position with the London Lions in the table, while Cheshire remain in seventh place.

Mike Baldarelli (193-F/G-89, college: Assumption) had a big game for the Wildcats as he bagged a game-high 26 points in their victory, while Jerome Gumbs picked up 24 points for the Phoenix in the defeat.

After a close start to the game, Gumbs helped the home side into an 18-11 lead midway through the opening period, but it was not enough to keep the Wildcats at bay as six points from Keith Page helped the visitors into a 41-42 lead at the half.

The second half saw the visitors continue to extend their advantage as Baldarelli hit six points at the start of the final quarter in a 10-2 burst to take the score out to 61-76 and they held on for the impressive victory.

The Raiders bounced back from the defeat to the Wildcats on Friday night with an impressive 70-103 victory over the Mersey Tigers at Knowsley Leisure and Culture Park to keep themselves in control of fourth position in the table.

27 points from Michael Ojo helped the Raiders to the victory, while Chris Bigley was the main man for the Tigers as he netted 17 points personal.

The Tigers led 23-21 early in the second quarter, but a Jamal Williams three-pointer sparked the Raiders into life as they broke the game open with a 20-0 burst to take the score out to 23-41 and they never looked back from that point on as they extended their lead for the remainder of the game and picked up the highly impressive victory.
