Barking Abbey Leopards (EBL) agreed terms with 24-year old British ex-international center Azania Stewart (195-89, college: Florida). She started the season at Caja Rural in Spanish LF2 league. In 10 LFB games this season she had 5.7ppg and 1.9rpg. The last season Stewart played at the University of Florida in Southeastern Conference in the NCAA. In 33 games last year she recorded 6.3ppg, 5.5rpg, 1.1apg, 1.2spg and 2.1bpg. She was also a member of British international program for some years. Stewart played for British Senior National Team between 2010 and 2012 and previously for University National Team in 2009. She represented United Kingdom at the Olympic Games in London (United Kingdon) last year. Stewart graduated from University of Florida in 2012 and it is her first season as a professional player.

Connecticut Sun released 26-year old British international small forward Johannah Leedham (180-87, college: Franklin Pierce).
This season Leedham played at Cercle Jean Mace Bourges (LFB) in French league. In 13 games she had 8.7ppg, 4.5rpg, 1.7apg and 1.6spg this season. She contributed to her team making it to the final after they ended regular season as second best team. A very impressive season as she was named to Australiabasket.com All-Australian WNBL Honorable Mention. The previous (10-11) season Leedham played at AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski (PLKK) in Polish league. In 16 games she recorded 10.8ppg, 4.4rpg, 1.5apg and 2.2spg that season. Quite impressive year as she was named to Eurobasket.com All-Polish PLKK Honorable Mention and All-Bosmans Team. She also played 9 games in Euroleague where she recorded 9.7ppg, 3.1rpg, 1.2apg and 2.1spg (in top 5). Three years ago Leedham was drafted by Connecticut Sun (WNBA) in third round (27th overall). She attended Franklin Pierce University (NCAA Div.II) until 2010 and it is her third season in pro basketball. Leedham was voted Daktronics All-NCAA D2 1st Team back in 2010 at her college time. Leedham was also a member of British international program for some years. She played for British Senior National Team between 2008 and 2012 and previously for University National Team in 2009. Leedham represented United Kingdom at the Olympic Games in London (United Kingdon) last year. Her stats at that event were 5 games: Score-2 (16.2ppg), 5.2rpg, 2.2apg, Steals-3 (2.4spg), FGP: 38.1%, 3PT: 20.8%, FT: 85.7%.

For the first time since their participation at the London 2012 Olympic Games, Great Britains top womens basketball stars will be stepping out once again in a competition on home soil when they compete in a four nation tournament also involving Germany, Greece and Israel.
The 2013 GB Invitational Tournament, presented by Standard Life, takes place between 25-27 May at Surrey Sports Park and will give fans the chance to see the players try to build momentum and confidence ahead of the prestigious EuroBasket Women Championship to be held in France this summer.
With a new head coach and featuring many of the players who pulled on their Great Britain Basketball vest with real pride in the capital last year, home supporters can look forward to cheering their favourites in three games, against a trio of elite womens basketball nations.
New GB Head Coach Damian Jennings enthused We always look forward to international test games on home soil. The chance to play in front of a home crowd against top level European countries to prepare for the EuroBasket is a great opportunity.
GB Basketballs last visit to Surrey Sports Park was in 2012 in preparation for their appearance at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Tickets for all fixtures are now on sale and are priced at 18 for adults and 12 for children, giving access to both fixtures on each day of action.
