Here is the weekly review of the top performing British players, who play currently abroad.


Luol Deng

   #1. This week's number one is an international forward Luol Deng (206-85, agency: Interperformances, college: Duke, currently plays in NBA). He led Chicago Bulls to a victory over the Atlanta Hawks (26-21) 93-76 in the NBA in Saturday night's game. Deng was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 25 points and getting 14 rebounds. Deng also added 5 assists, 2 blocks and 4 steals in 46 minutes on the court. The Chicago Bulls have a solid 29-19 record this season. It's Deng's ninth year with the team. He has individually a very good year with high stats. Deng averages: 17.2ppg, 6.7rpg, 3.0apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 45.5%, 3FGP: 32.8% and FT: 82.5% in the 43 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: British and Sudanese. Deng is currently a member of the British senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to former international forward Dante Cunningham (203-87, college: Villanova, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA. He could not help the Minnesota Timberwolves (18-27) in their last game on Monday. Despite Cunningham's very good performance the Minnesota Timberwolves were edged 100-98 on the road by the Portland Trail Blazers. He was the top scorer with 23 points. Cunningham also added 3 steals. It's Cunningham's first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year: 8.3ppg, 5.3rpg, 2FGP: 47.3% and FT: 58.8%. Cunningham is a naturalized American. He played for the British national team in 2008. Strangely Cunningham has never played in United Kingdom.

   #3. The British player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard Ben Gordon (188-83, college: Connecticut, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA. He was not able to help the Charlotte Bobcats (11-36) in their last game. Despite Gordon's very good performance the Charlotte Bobcats lost 94-99 in Miami to the Heat. He was the second best scorer with 16 points. Gordon also added 4 passes in 28 minutes. It was Bobcats' fourth consecutive loss in a row. Gordon has very impressive stats this year: 13.3ppg, 2.0rpg, 2.2apg, 2FGP: 45.4%, 3FGP: 41.8% and FT: 83.8% in the 42 games. He is a naturalized American. Gordon is also a member of the British senior national team. Apparently he has never played in United Kingdom.

   #4. Forward Matthew Bryan-Amaning (205-88, also represented by Interperformances, college: Washington, currently plays in Adriatic League) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Krka (8-12) crushing them 77-52 in the Adriatic League on Sunday night. Bryan-Amaning scored 13 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Radnicki Kragujevac (12-8) is placed sixth in the Adriatic League. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Bryan-Amaning's overall stats this season are: 7.6ppg and 3.8rpg. He is another player who holds two passports: Ghanian and British. Bryan-Amaning is also British national team player.

International point guard Andrew Lawrence (185-90, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to an easy victory against the University of North Carolina, Greensboro (4-5) crushing them 81-59 in the NCAA last Saturday. He scored 17 points and added 6 passes. The College of Charleston has a solid 8-3 conference record this season. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Lawrence is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Charleston's roster. This season Lawrence has relatively solid stats: 10.7ppg, 5.1rpg and 1.5apg. He plays currently for the British national team.

   #6. Guard Kyle Johnson (195-88, college: LIU Brooklyn, currently plays in Italy), who plays in the Italian SerieA was not able to secure a victory for Sutor Montegranaro (5-13) in their last game. Despite Johnson's very good performance Sutor Montegranaro was edged 83-80 in Bologna by the higher-ranked (#11) SAIE3 BO. He was the second best scorer with 16 points. Johnson also added 6 rebounds in 31 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his second season in pro basketball. This year Johnson's overall stats are: 7.6ppg and 3.4rpg in the 18 games. He is an international player who is currently on the senior British National Team roster.

Former international power forward Dzaflo Larkai (203-81, agency: Top Notch Sports, college: Bellarmine, currently plays in Japan) was the major contributor in a 2-point Okinawa GK's victory against the ninth-ranked Osaka Evessa (7-21) 62-60 in the Japanese BJ League last Sunday. He had a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 10 rebounds in 24 minutes. Ryukyu Golden Kings Okinawa (22-6) is placed first in Western group. This year Larkai's total stats are: 9.2ppg and 5.8rpg in the 28 games. He used to play for the British national team five years ago.

Lenzly has averaged so far 8.0ppg, 5.5rpg and 2.5apg in the two games. He is a naturalized American. Lenzly plays currently for the British national team. Interesting that he has never played in United Kingdom.

He is a naturalized American. Toney is a former international player as four years ago he still played for the British senior national team. He used to play for Newcastle Eagles in British league.

   #11. U20 international point guard Josh Owen-Thomas (186-92, currently plays in Canada) helped University of Calgary win their game against the Cougars 85-75 in the Canadian university league CIS in Friday night's game. Owen-Thomas recorded 16 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists in 32 minutes. Owen-Thomas has averaged so far 7.2ppg, 3.2rpg, 1.9apg and 1.1spg in the 18 games. He plays currently for the British U20 national team.

   #12. Former international point guard Justin Robinson (187-87, another player represented by Two Points, college: Rider, currently plays in Ukraine), who plays in the Ukrainian Superleague couldn't help BC Kyiv (6-21) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Robinson's good performance the bottom-ranked BC Kyiv was defeated 72-62 in a derby game by the leading Budivelnyk. He was the top scorer with 14 points. Robinson also added 6 rebounds. Robinson averaged so far 10.7ppg, 2.7rpg and 4.0apg. He used to play for the British national team back in 2011.

   #13. Former U20 international center Fahro Alihodzic (208-89, currently studies in the States) helped UAB win their n overtime game against the The Univ.of Texas at El Paso 78-72 in the NCAA on Wednesday night. Alihodzic scored 12 points, had 8 rebounds, passed 4 assists and added 3 blocks in 40 minutes. Alihodzic's stats this year are: 10.7ppg, 2.7rpg and 4.0apg in the 27 games. He used to play for the British U20 national team four years ago.

   #14. Former international forward Ashley Hamilton (201-88, is currently at the American university), who plays in the NCAA couldn't help the Loyola Mary (1-8) in their last game on Monday. Despite Hamilton's good performance the Loyola Mary was edged in an overtime 69-68 at home by the University of San Diego. He recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and getting 12 rebounds. Hamilton also added 5 assists. Hamilton averaged so far 10.7ppg, 2.7rpg and 4.0apg. He used to play for the British national team back in 2011.

   #15. International point guard Ogooluwa Adegboye (182-87, college: St.Bonaventure, currently plays in Cyprus) helped Etha win their game against the league outsider Omonia 84-80 in a derby game in the Cypriot Division A last Wednesday. Adegboye recorded 10 points and added 3 passes in 30 minutes. Adegboye has averaged so far 8.6ppg, 2.4rpg, 2.9apg and 1.3spg in the 14 games. He is also in the roster of the British national team.

   #1. Byron Mullens (213-C-89, college: Ohio St., currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA could not help the Charlotte Bobcats (11-36) in their last game on Monday. Despite Mullens' good performance the Charlotte Bobcats were defeated 99-94 on the road by the Miami Heat. He scored 12 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Mullens has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 11.6ppg, 7.9rpg and 1.5apg. Mullens is a naturalized American. Interesting that he has never played in United Kingdom.

   #2. Experienced Darren Phillip (201-F-78, college: Fairfield, currently plays in Argentina), who plays in the Argentinian LigaA was not able to help Union Progresista (10-22) in their last game. Despite Phillip's very good performance Union Progresista lost 76-84 in Buenos Aires to the much higher-ranked (#5) Boca Juniors. He had a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 11 rebounds in 35 minutes. It was Union Progresista's fourth consecutive loss in a row. Phillip is the league's top scorer and also on the list of best rebounders (first place). He has very impressive stats this year: 18.9ppg, 11.2rpg and 1.4apg in the 30 games he played so far. Phillip is a naturalized American. Interesting that he has never played in United Kingdom.

   #3. Oladapo Ayuba (198-F-86, college: UMKC, currently plays in Sweden) was the major contributor in a 3-point Norrkoping Dolphins' victory against the league outsider Nassjo (5-21) 91-88 in the Swedish Basketligan in Tuesday night's game. He scored 18 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 23 minutes. Norrkoping Dolphins (18-2) is placed second in the Basketligan. Ayuba is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Norrkoping Dolphins' roster. This season Ayuba has relatively solid stats: 10.7ppg, 5.1rpg and 1.5apg in the 24 games. He is a naturalized American. Interesting that Ayuba has never played in United Kingdom.

   #4. Paul Guede (195-G/F-87, agency: Interperformances, college: Portland St., currently plays in Germany) led BG Goettingen to a victory over the league outsider USC Leipzig (3-17) 92-80 in the German ProA (second division) in Saturday night's game. Guede was the best player in that game. He scored 21 points; not bad, considering it's only Guede's second season in pro basketball. BG Goettingen (15-5) is placed second in the ProA. Guede's total stats this season are: 9.4ppg, 3.2rpg and 1.6apg.

   #5. Keith Rendleman (203-F-90, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA was not able to secure a victory for the NC-Wilmington (2-3) in their last game on Monday. Despite Rendleman's very good performance the NC-Wilmington was defeated 81-68 in Towson, MD by the Towson University. He recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 12 rebounds. Rendleman has been at the team for four years. Rendleman has averaged so far 9.2ppg and 5.8rpg.

   #6. Lee Jeka (187-G-83, agency: Limelight Hoops, currently plays in Germany), who plays in the German ProA (second division) couldn't help Science City Jena (9-11) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Jeka's very good performance Science City Jena was defeated 83-73 in Paderborn by the lower-ranked Finke Baskets (#13). He was the top scorer with 20 points. Jeka averaged so far 12.0ppg, 2.9rpg and 4.2apg. He has a dual citizenship: British and Australian.

   #7. Sullivan Phillips (198-G/F-79, college: Wash.Adventist, currently plays in Germany) is a teammate of previously mentioned Paul Guede and both played together in the last German ProA game. Phillips contributed to a BG Goettingen's victory against the league outsider USC Leipzig 92-80. He scored 13 points and added 6 passes in 31 minutes. Phillips' stats this year are: 11.8ppg, 4.7rpg and 4.1apg in the 20 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Bermudas and British.

   #8. Olumide Oyedeji (210-C-81, currently plays in Japan), who plays in the Japanese JBL couldn't help Tochigi Brex (8-20) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Oyedeji's very good performance Tochigi Brex was defeated 81-74 in Osaka by the higher-ranked Panasonic Trians (#3). He recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 11 rebounds. Oyedeji has averaged so far 9.5ppg and 7.0rpg. He has both Nigerian and British nationalities.

   #9. Michael Ochereobia (203-C, currently studies in the States) helped W.Illinois win their game against the Indiana Univ-Purdue Univ-Indianapolis 68-59 in the NCAA in Saturday night's game. Ochereobia scored 9 points in only 9 minutes. Ochereobia has averaged so far 8.6ppg, 2.4rpg, 2.9apg and 1.3spg in the 14 games.

   #10. Andrew Thomson (205-F-84, college: Catawba, currently plays in France) helped La Rochelle win their game against the closely-ranked Cognac 74-68 in the French NM1 (third division) on Tuesday night. He scored 15 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 30 minutes. Thomson averaged so far 10.5ppg and 5.4rpg in the 15 games.
