McLemore
Surrey Heat has released Martelle McLemore (196-G/F-88, college: W.Michigan) as a result of an ongoing injury. The popular American guard/forward has been struggling with a persistent ankle injury, which has flared up again since his return to the court a couple of weeks ago.

The Heat is hoping his replacement will be announced before the next home game, which is on Sunday 24 February.

Surrey Heat head coach, Creon Raftopoulos commented, "Martelle is a great player - he had a very successful start to the season, is a huge hit with the fans and is highly respected by his team mates. Unfortunately, since his ankle injury against Plymouth, he has struggled to get back to his peak performance and the Club has made a decision that we need to address this and move on.

"We have looked into bringing Travis Holmes back - the most obvious choice given that he performed so well when temporarily joining the team to allow Martelle to rest his ankle. However, we have not been able to come to a financial agreement and will have to consider other options."

Alison Reeve, managing director of Surrey Heat added, "It is with great regret that we have had to release Martelle. He has made a big contribution to the club - in terms of performance at BBL games, community coaching and mentoring. We all wish him a speedy recovery and will keep in touch with him regarding future opportunities at Surrey Heat."

Martelle McLemore joined Surrey Heat at the start of the 2010/2011 season.
