James Takes Molten BBL Coach of the Month Accolade - Feb 27, 2013

Paul James
Paul James has scooped the Molten BBL Coach of the Month Award for February after taking Worcester Wolves to the brink of both a potential BBL Trophy Final and a top four place in the BBL Championship.

The play-caller led Worcester to a perfect six wins from six games during the period, with Wolves one of only two clubs to complete this feat in February.

After an inconsistent campaign, Wolves have finally hit top gear and five league wins have strengthened their bid to make it into the top four of the BBL table - although it was their superb BBL Trophy quarter-final success on Tyneside against Newcastle Eagles which really caught the eye.

Wolves dumped the reigning Trophy holders out of the competition in front of their own fans, as Alex Owumi found the hot-hand to light it up with an MVP display to help his team record a memorable 94-88 success.

The month had started well too, an 88-75 win on the road at Manchester Giants igniting the climb up the standings, something which gathered even more momentum as the month unfolded.

James guided Wolves to three successive home wins, firstly routing Mersey Tigers 119-64, and following this up with a thrilling 98-91 overtime success against London Lions, before completing an impressive 99-81 demolition of top four chasing rivals Surrey Heat.

Their monthly unbeaten status was then safely secured, albeit after a hard-fight at Newton Aycliffe last weekend, when they continued their rich vein of form with an 83-79 victory against Durham Wildcats.

James now takes his team into the BBL Trophy semi-finals this weekend against Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders and Rob Paternostro, the only other coach who didn't taste defeat during February.
