Raiders add GB International to front line - Sep 4, 2017

Zak Wells
Plymouth Raiders are pleased to announce the signing of former London Lions and Leeds Force centre, Zak Wells (213-C-93).

The 7'0 Great Britain international, will bring size and strength to Raiders front line next season, and will have the opportunity to forge a formidable partnership with fellow new arrivals, Craig Osaikhwuwuomwan and Joonas Jarvelainen.

Despite being only 24-years-old, this season will be Zak's fourth as a BBL professional, and in his second season with the Force, he showed what he has to offer the league - averaging 8.2 points and 4.8 boards per game in just over 21 minutes playing time.

Plymouth Raiders Head Coach Gavin Love said: 'We welcome Zak to the Plymouth Raiders. We are excited for him to join us and adding Zak to our roster gives us some real size and a true post player.

"I know he is ready and motivated to have a good season.'

Meanwhile the player himself added: "I am very happy with my choice to move to the Plymouth Raiders this season. With the rebuild of the club, it's an exciting time to be joining and something I want to be a part of.

'After speaking with Coach Love, I could see it was a great fit for me in terms of continuing to develop as a player and also helping the team to get more wins.

"I am really looking forward to making the move down, meeting the coaches, players, and especially the fans, and getting started with preseason!'

With another signing due to be announced this Thursday, Coach Love's team is nearing completion, and the club is looking forward to showcasing the new team at the first pre-season game on Sunday 24th September, against BBL rivals, Cheshire Phoenix.

As a special, 'New Era' treat, ticket prices for the Cheshire game have been reduced across the board. Adult tickets will now be only 9, Children and Concessions 5, and only 22 for a Family tickets.

Speaking of the reduced ticket prices for this game, Raiders' Director Richard Mollard said: 'We appreciate that our fans have had to endure a lot of change this summer and we want to provide a little gesture of good will from all of us at the Club, in the form of a ticket price reduction, - to make it even more affordable for our many fans to welcome their new team to the Pavilions.'

Given all the new additions to the playing and coaching staff, as well as all the exciting developments behind the scenes, it's anticipated that demand for these reduced tickets to the Cheshire game on the 24th will be high as Raiders' fans get their first opportunity to see their new team compete in the flesh.

As well as the new team, it will also be the first opportunity to see this year's new light and music show, as well as all the latest Cheerleader routines, so the club is therefore highly recommending fans visit the online Box Office early to avoid disappointment -

Worcester cruise past Bristol in preseason - 1 day ago
Worcester Wolves eased past Bristol Flyers 87-71 in pre-season action at the University of Worcester Arena on Monday. It was newly-appointed club captain Ashton Khan (183-PG, college: Tiffin) who started the scoreboard ticking with a basket and a bonus free throw. His backcourt companion Elvisi Dusha (188-G-94) made an immediate impact with a steal and a behind-the-head pass for Alex Navajas to convert, pushing Wolves 15-5 ahead.
