Astana lands C Andreas Glyniadakis from Euroleague champions Olympiakos - Jun 11, 2012

BC Astana once again proved their high ambitions for the next season. The reigning Kazakhstan champions penned a deal with Greek center Andreas Glyniadakis (215-C-81, agency: Beo Basket). He arrives to the club from the Euroleague champ Olympiakos Pireus. He had 4 ppg and 1.3 rpg for 9 Euroleague games this season. The player also added 4.6 ppg and 1.8 rpg for 19 games in Greece. Olympiakos managed to win the Greek league and Euroleague title after 15 years. Andreas Glyniadakis also won the Greek Cup with Olympiakos in 2010 and 2011. He joined the club in 2009 from Marousi. Before that, the center played for Vidi Vici Bologna, Albuquerque Thunderbirds, Roanoke Dazzle (NBA D-League), Seattle Supersonics (NBA), AEK Athens, Peristeri, Panellinios and Panathinaikos. He won the Euroleague title with PAO in 2000. Glyniadakis also won five Greek league titles in his career, including the one with Olympiakos. In 2006, the center was NBA D-League champion with the Thunderbirds.

Belarusian Artsiom Parakhouski (211-C-87) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Unics and that's him to receive a Player of the Week award for round 3. The 29-year old center had a double-double of 21 points and twelve rebounds, while his team crushed, the league's bottom-ranked team Parma (#12, 0-2) with 16-point margin 89-73. Round 3 means everything may happen in VTB United League as the season just started. Estonia Kalev/Cramo (1-1) recorded a loss in Saint Petersburg on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by Russia Zenit (2-0) 89-73. The game without a history. Zenit led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter.
