Unics Kazan ensured the services of Kelly McCarty (201-F-75, agency: Avi Zilberman, college: S.Mississippi) for another season. The sides have agreed on terms of contract extension. The forward will enter his third straight season in Kazan. Last season Kelly McCarty averaged 7.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game in VTB League. In Euroleague the forward notched 5.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per appearance. Kelly McCarty also posted 9.0 points, 5.3 rebounds. Eurobasket.com named Kelly McCarty All-VTB League Forward of the Year in 2011. Previously the forward played for Khimky, Dynamo Saint Petersburg, Maccabi Rishon Le-Zion, Hapeol Jerusalem, Givat Shmuel, Maccabi Raanana, Oklahoma Storm. Kelly McCarty was trumped All-FIBA EuroCup Forward of the Year in 2006. He also clinched All-EuroCup Forward of the Year title in 2009.

In VTB League the guard came up with 7.5 points, 3.3 boards and 2.8 assists. Igor Zamanskiy joined Unics in the same year as Terrell Lyday. Last season his stats read 2.5 points and 1.5 rebounds per game in EuroCup. In PBL Igor Zamanskiy posted 4.6 points, while in VTB League he delivered 3.2 points per game.

Lokomotiv held off ambitious Unics in Krasnodar to seal their next round appearance. Unics Kazan was ahead by 13 points at the halftime before a 39-22 second half run of Lokomotiv. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Unics Kazan to just 7 points in third quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Greek point guard Nick Calathes (198-89, college: Florida) who helped to win the game recording 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Maxim Grigoryev (195-90) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Lokomotiv players scored in double figures. Lokomotiv's coach Evgeny Pashutin allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game.
