29-year old guard Earl Rowland (188-G-83) put on an amazing game in the last round for VEF Riga and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 2.
He had the game-high 21 points adding eight rebounds and six assists for VEF Riga in his team's victory, helping them to outclass, the league's bottom-ranked team Neptunas (#9, 0-2) with 26-point margin 86-60. VEF Riga maintains the 4th position in VTB United League . But it's just the very beginning of the season and VEF Riga won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Rowland had a remarkable 100.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be VEF Riga's top player in his first season with the team. Saint Mary's College of California graduate has very impressive stats this year. Rowland is in league's top in points (2nd best: 22.5ppg), rebounds (5th best: 8.5rpg), assists (7th best: 5.0apg) and averages solid 75.0% FGP and 50.0% from behind 3-point line.

Second best performed player last round was Chester Simmons (196-G-82) of Krasnie Krilya. He is American guard in his first season at Krasnie Krilya. In the last game Simmons recorded impressive 31 points and 2 rebounds. Bad luck as Krasnie Krilya lost that game 70-81 to Lietuvos rytas (1-2). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Simmons is a newcomer at Krasnie Krilya and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.0ppg (#1).

Third place about best performers goes to center Aleks Maric (211-C-84) of Lokomotiv (#7). Maric scored 16 points and grabbed fourteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Maric's great performance Lokomotiv lost 74-81 to CEZ Nymburk (#6, 1-1). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Lokomotiv can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 2 games. Too bad for Maric he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Maric has individually a great season in VTB United League. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 12.0rpg (#1 in league).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Tremmell Darden (194-G/F-81) of Zalgiris - 16 points and 9 rebounds
5. Andrew Naymick (209-C-85) of CEZ Nymburk - 12 points and 12 rebounds
6. Yuval Naimy (188-PG-85) of Triumph - 27 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists
7. Hasan Rizvic (212-C-84) of Enisey - 17 points and 6 rebounds
8. Primoz Brezec (216-F/C-79) of N.Novgorod - 20 points and 6 rebounds
9. Ivan Zigeranovic (212-C-84) of PGE Turow - 22 points and 8 rebounds
10. David Simon (208-C-82) of BC Astana - 18 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
