Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius (LKL) signed 23-year old Croatian international power forward Tomislav Zubcic (208-90, agency: Beo Basket). He just played at Cibona in Croatian A1 league. In four Eurocup games this year he had 9.8ppg, 3.8rpg, 2.0apg and 1.0spg. Zubcic also played 12 games in Adriatic League where he recorded 9.8ppg, 4.0rpg and 1.3apg.
In 2011/12 season Zubcic averaged 5.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per EuroCup game, he also delivered 7.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.2 steals per Adriatic League appearance.
His team won Croatian Supercup.
The previous (10-11) season he played at Cibona (A1) in A1. The team played in three different competitions (!!!) that year, and Zubcic was exposed to basketball on different levels. In 15 A1 games he recorded 11.1ppg, 4.7rpg and 1.1spg. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. Zubcic also played 10 games in Euroleague where he recorded 9.0ppg and 5.1rpg. He also played 25 games in Adriatic League where he recorded 9.7ppg, 5.3rpg, 1.1apg and 1.1spg.
Last year Zubcic was drafted by Drafted by Toronto Raptors (NBA) in second round (56th overall).
Zubcic was selected to Croatian League All-Star Game back in 2010.
He was also a member of Croatian international program for some years. Zubcic played for Croatian Senior National Team in 2009 and previously for U19 National Team in 2009. He represented Croatia at the European Championships U20 in Croatia three years ago. Zubcics team got to the Semifinals and his stats at that event were 9 games: 6.3ppg, 4.0rpg, FGP: 50.0%, 3PT: 21.4%, FT: 73.3%.
Zubcic has played also professionally in Croatia (KK Zadar and Rudes).
He could be described: A very talented frontcourt player who seems not ready to bang inside, due to skinny frame and poor fighting mentality. Has great mid-range shooting and passing skills, his future could be at the 4 position.
