CSKA earn third consecutive title - Jun 13, 2014

CSKA defended their VTB League title. They outgunned visiting Nizhny Novgorod in Moscow to sweep the title series. The victory marked the third consecutive VTB League title for the Moscow powerhouse. CSKA Moscow led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. CSKA Moscow looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when CSKA Moscow made 7 blocks. 24 personal fouls committed by BC Nizhny Novgorod helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Serbian point guard Milos Teodosic (195-87) who scored 16 points and 6 assists. Forward Viktor Khryapa (203-82) chipped in 5 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Dijon Thompson (201-83, college: UCLA) who recorded 14 points and 9 rebounds and American-Montenegrin point guard Taylor Rochestie (185-85, college: Washington St.) added 12 points respectively. Four BC Nizhny Novgorod players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
