Regular Season Round 2: Kataja - Korihait 95-78 (22-17, 27-15, 25-27, 21-19)

Undefeated UU-Korihait (1-1) recorded its first loss on the court of top-ranked Joensuun Kataja. Visitors were defeated by Joensuun Kataja 95-78. The game was mostly controlled by Joensuun Kataja. UU-Korihait was better in third quarter 27-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Joensuun Kataja players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The former international Sami Lehtoranta (205-79) notched 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and international point guard Petri Virtanen (183-80) supported him with 18 points and 5 assists. Joensuun Kataja's coach Jukka Toijala allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists by guard Pyry Rainamaa (194-90) did not help to save the game for UU-Korihait. American guard Daniel Horton (191-84, college: Michigan, agency: KMG Sports Management) added 21 points for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Joensuun Kataja (1-0) left bottom position moving up to third place. UU-Korihait at the other side dropped to the fourth position with one game lost. They share it with 5 other teams. Joensuun Kataja will play against league's leader Kauhajoen Karhu in Kauhajoki in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. UU-Korihait will play at home against LrNMKY in Lappeenranta and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
