Regular Season Day 3: Khimky - BC Donetsk 72-58 (22-17, 25-4, 11-17, 14-20)
Date: October 22, 2012 Rather predictable result in Khimki where leader Russian Khimky (3-0) defeated 5th ranked Ukrainian BC Donetsk (1-2) 72-58. The game was mostly controlled by Khimky. BC Donetsk was better in third quarter 17-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding BC Donetsk to just 4 points in second quarter. Khimky forced 20 BC Donetsk turnovers. It was a good game for guard Vitaliy Fridzon (195-85, agency: Alti Sport) who led his team to a victory with 16 points. American forward James Augustine (208-84, college: Illinois, agency: Priority Sports) contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Khimky players scored in double figures. American guard Ramel Curry (192-80, college: CSU Bakersfield) answered with 13 points and FYR Macedonian guard Vojdan Stojanovski (194-87) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for BC Donetsk. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Khimky have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Spartak SP and CSKA. Defending Ukrainian champion BC Donetsk keeps the fifth place with two games lost. Khimky's next round opponent will be league's leader Spartak St.Petersburg on the road and it will be for sure the game of the week. BC Donetsk will play against Azovmash (#7) in Mariupol and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
