Regular Season Day 3: Lokomotiv - Tsmoki-Minsk 89-74 (33-19, 14-16, 14-18, 28-21)
Date: October 21, 2012 Everything could happen in Kuban at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked Russian Lokomotiv and bottom-ranked Belarusian Tsmoki-Minsk had identical 0-2 record. This time Lokomotiv used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Minsk 89-74. The game was mostly controlled by Lokomotiv. Tsmoki-Minsk was better in second period 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 27 personal fouls committed by Tsmoki-Minsk helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American-Greek point guard Nick Calathes (198-89, college: Florida) who led his team to a victory with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Lithuanian Simas Jasaitis (202-82) contributed with 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Five Lokomotiv players scored in double figures. Aliaksandr Kudrautsau (190-80) answered with 20 points and 4 assists and American guard JaJuan Smith (188-85, college: Tennessee) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Tsmoki-Minsk. Tsmoki-Minsk's coach Andrei Krivonos let to play eleven players and allowed the starting five to rest. Lokomotiv (1-2) left bottom position moving up to fifth place, which they share with 6 other teams. It was Tsmoki-Minsk's third loss in a row. Defending Belarusian champion still closes the standings with three games lost. Lokomotiv's next round opponent will be higher ranked BC Nizhny Novgorod (#3) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tsmoki-Minsk will play against Triumph Lyubertsy (#6) in Lubertsy and hopes to get finally their first victory.
