Date: October 28, 2012 Round 4 in VTB United League means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Kaunas where host Lithuanian Zalgiris (3-0) beat league's leader Russian CSKA Moscow (3-1) 76-66 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of CSKA Moscow. It was a key game for the top position in the league. CSKA Moscow was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 23-12 charge of Zalgiris, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to CSKA Moscow's 22 and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by CSKA Moscow helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Center Ksistof Lavrinovic (210-79) fired 19 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Rimantas Kaukenas (192-77, college: Seton Hall) chipped in 12 points and 4 assists. Serbian center Nenad Krstic (212-83) produced 11 points and 5 rebounds and American swingman Sonny Weems (198-86, college: Arkansas) added 13 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zalgiris have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending Lithuanian champion keeps a position of league leader. Defending Russian champion CSKA Moscow dropped to the second place with one game lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. They were replaced at the leadership position by Zalgiris. CSKA Moscow will play next round against CEZ Nymburk trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Zalgiris will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked VEF Riga on the road.
