Regular Season Round 4: Maine RC - Los Angeles D. 94-97 (25-25, 30-26, 17-25, 22-21)
Date: November 30, 2012 The Los Angeles D-Fenders completed a come-from-behind 97-94 victory over the Maine Red Claws on Friday night at the Portland Expo Building. Trailing by five points with 2:12 remaining, the D-Fenders scored the final eight points of the game to snatch the win and move to 2-0 on the season. Entering the contest, the Red Claws offense had averaged 120 points in their first two games and looked to be on a similar pace after they posted a 27-14 lead through one quarter. However, the D-Fenders outscored the Red Claws 55-45 in the second and third quarters combined to pull within three points before they finished the comeback. Johnson-Odom (24 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals) ended up as the leading scorer for the second straight game while teammate Courtney Fortson also registered a 20-plus point night (21 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals). In addition, Orien Greene tallied 17 points, five rebounds and three steals, Robert Sacre posted 13 points and 13 rebounds (second double-double of season) and Gary Flowers added 13 points (6-7 FG) to round out the five D-Fenders in double-figures. The Red Claws (2-1) were paced by Micah Downs (22 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals), Chris Wright (19 points, 7 rebounds), Shelvin Mack (16 points, 9 assists) and Xavier Silas (16 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists). Meanwhile, Fab Melo registered 8 points and 11 rebounds in the loss. Only the third time the franchises have faced one another, the D-Fenders improved to 2-1 overall in the series and have held Maine to 94 points in each of their past two meetings.
