Regular Season Round 4: Reno B. - Santa Cruz W. 95-101 (19-20, 24-36, 19-16, 33-29)
Date: November 30, 2012 The Santa Cruz Warriors opened their inaugural regular season tonight with a 101-95 win over the Reno Bighorns. And as should probably be expected, Golden State assignee Kent Bazemore was rather dominant in his D-League debut: he scored a game-high 27 points in just over 33 minutes along with nine rebounds and five steals.Taylor Griffin finished with a double-double, recording 12 points and 10 rebounds, including a big 3-pointer down the stretch. Mickell Gladness had a more modest line with three points and five rebounds in about 19 minutes. But the story here is probably Bazemore; the question that springs to mind after watching his performance is what exactly do the Warriors hope he will gain from this experience? For much of this first outing, Bazemore was simply toying with his opponents, proving what we should probably assume given that he was assigned to the D-League from a NBA roster: he was by far the best talent on the floor. Maybe his four turnovers suggest an area for improvement, but as the first day with a new team - even if they were running sets that Golden State fans would find familiar - it's hard to even read too much into that.
