Date: December 10, 2012 Leader Maccabi T-A delivered the eighth victory on Monday night. This time they beat 5th ranked GreenTops Netanya (5-4) 89-82. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-14. But GreenTops Netanya won second period 27-26. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi T-A forced 22 GreenTops Netanya turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 61.9 percentage. American swingman Devin Smith (196-83, college: Virginia) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners and international point guard Yogev Ohayon (187-87) chipped in 19 points and 5 assists. Maccabi T-A's coach David Blatt used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American power forward Marco Killingsworth (203-82, college: Indiana, agency: Avi Zilberman) with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import power forward Raymar Morgan (202-88, college: Michigan St.) scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Maccabi T-A (8-1) have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place. GreenTops Netanya lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Hapoel T-A and Hapoel J-M. Maccabi T-A will meet at home bottom-ranked Maccabi Ashdod (#12) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. GreenTops Netanya will play against Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
