Date: December 11, 2012 An interesting game was also a 19-point surprising road defeat of 4th ranked Penarol in a game in Cordoba versus Atenas (#7) 106-87. The game was mostly controlled by Atenas. Penarol managed to win second period 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Atenas shot 61.9 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 19 long-distance shots on high 65.5 percentage. Atenas looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Mariano Fierro (201-86) who led the winners and scored 27 points and 8 rebounds. The former international guard Javier Bulfoni (192-76) accounted for 20 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Atenas' coach Alejandro Lotterio used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International point guard Facundo Campazzo (179-91) came up with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and international power forward Leonardo Gutierrez (201-78) added 16 points respectively for Penarol in the defeat. Five Atenas and four Penarol players scored in double figures. Atenas (13-11) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Argentino and Quimsa. Defending champion Penarol keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Atenas will meet at home higher ranked Olimpico de La Banda (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Penarol will play against Wuber-Est.Bahia in Bahia Blanca and hope to secure a win.
