Regular Season Round 12: Anadolu Efes - Karsiyaka 71-65 (10-13, 19-21, 24-16, 18-15)
Date: December 23, 2012 Everything could happen in Istanbul at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Anadolu Efes and 5th ranked Karsiyaka had identical 9-2 record. This time Anadolu Efes used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Karsiyaka 71-65. Karsiyaka was ahead by 5 points at the halftime before a 42-31 second half run of Anadolu Efes. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Karsiyaka's 22. The winners were led by international Kerem Gonlum (208-77) who scored that evening 18 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and Slovenian Sasha Vujacic (201-84) supported him with 18 points. Anadolu Efes' coach Oktay Mahmudi allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists by American point guard Bobby Dixon (178-83, college: Troy, agency: Beo Basket) did not help to save the game for Karsiyaka. Nigerian center Alade Aminu (210-87, college: Georgia Tech) added 20 points and 6 rebounds. Anadolu Efes have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Galatasaray and Banvit BK. Karsiyaka at the other side keeps the fifth position with three games lost. Anadolu Efes will play against Tofas (#10) in Bursa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Karsiyaka will play at home against Olin Edirne (#12) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
