Regular Season Day 9: CEZ Nymburk - Tsmoki-Minsk 65-56 (18-13, 12-15, 21-20, 14-8)
Date: December 16, 2012 Rather predictable result when eighth ranked Czech CEZ Nymburk (4-5) defeated at home bottom-ranked Belarusian Tsmoki-Minsk (0-9) 65-56 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 18-13. But Tsmoki-Minsk won second period 15-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. CEZ Nymburk looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Tsmoki-Minsk's players. Center Petr Benda (203-82, agency: Court Side) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners and Slovakian power forward Radoslav Rancik (207-79, college: St.Cloud St., agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 12 points. CEZ Nymburk's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was American guard JaJuan Smith (188-85, college: Tennessee) with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and Dzianis Korshuk (200-78) scored 11 points. Defending Czech champion moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Defending Belarusian champion Tsmoki-Minsk still closes the standings with nine games lost. CEZ Nymburk will face BC Nizhny Novgorod (#7) at home in the next round. Tsmoki-Minsk will play against Enisey Krasnoyarsk and hopes to get finally their first victory.
