Top 16 Round 2: Anadolu Efes - Panathinaikos 78-64 (24-17, 21-15, 19-11, 14-21)
Date: January 3, 2013 Anadolu Efes clinched the first win in EuroLeague Top 16 round. They held off Panathinaikos at home arena to improve at 1-1 record in Group E. Jordan Farmar led well-balanced effort with 13 points. Anadolu Efes did not waste too much time in taking the lead. They grabbed control early in the game to post a 24:17 lead ten minutes into it. Anadolu Efes extended the margin in the second quarter. The Turkish side accumulated a 45:32 halftime advantage. The hosts kept Panathinaikos at bay throughout the third quarter. The Hellenes faced a massive 21-point deficit heading into the fourth frame. The Athens team got within 12 points after buckets from Maciulis and Kapono but Vujacic capped the regulation with a jumper to seal 14-point win for the hosts. Lucas had 12 points, while Dusko Savanovic added 11 points in the victory. Michael Bramos answered with 16 points for Panathinaikos. Sofoklis Schortsanitis netted 15 points in the loss.
