Date: January 5, 2013 The most exciting game of round 17 in the BBL took place in Muenchen. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed ratiopharm Ulm (11-6) to sixth ranked Bayern Muenchen (11-6) 80-78 in the game for the fourth place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of ratiopharm Ulm. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 21-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American-Bulgarian center Jared Homan (206-83, college: Iowa St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 8 rebounds. International Robin Benzing (209-89) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. American guard Allan Ray (188-84, college: Villanova) answered with 17 points and the other American import center John Bryant (208-87, college: Santa Clara) added 5 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for ratiopharm Ulm. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Bayern Muenchen have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Ratiopharm. Bayern Muenchen is looking forward to face New Yorker Phantoms (#16) in Braunschweig in the next round which should be an easy win for them. ratiopharm Ulm will play at home against LTi 46ers (#18) in Giessen and is hoping to win this game.
