Regular Season Round 16: Valencia - Gescrap BB 113-111 OT (31-21, 19-25, 29-25, 22-30, 12-10)
Date: January 6, 2013 Gescrap BB (#5) forced the game against Valencia Basket (#3) into an overtime, but lost by two points 111-113 on Sunday night. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 31-21. But Gescrap BB won second period 25-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Gescrap BB used huge pressure winning it 30-22 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 10-12. Valencia Basket made 43-of-47 free shots (91.5 percent) during the game, while Gescrap BB only scored twenty seven points from the stripe. Valencia Basket forced 22 Gescrap BB turnovers. Gescrap BB was plagued by 37 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Montenegrin Bojan Dubljevic (205-91, agency: Beo Basket) who helped to win the game recording 32 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his thirteen free throws !!!) and American forward Justin Doellman (206-85, college: Xavier) who added 16 points during the contest. At the losing side American power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) responded with 24 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and Greek swingman Kostas Vasiliadis (200-84, agency: FCM) scored 27 points (made all of his eleven free throws !!!). Five Valencia Basket and four Gescrap BB players scored in double figures. Valencia Basket have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 12-4 record having just three points less than leader Real Madrid, which they share with G.Canaria 2014. Gescrap BB at the other side keeps the fifth place with six games lost. Valencia Basket will face bottom-ranked Lagun Aro GBC (#18) in San Sebastian in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Gescrap BB will play at home against CB Canarias (#12) in Tenerife.
