Date: January 5, 2013 Very expected game in Beograd where 10th ranked Croatian Cibona (6-10) was defeated by third ranked Serbian Partizan (11-5) 74-68. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Partizan forced 22 Cibona turnovers. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. 25 personal fouls committed by Cibona helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Quite impressive performance for guard Dragan Milosavljevic (198-89) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Drew Gordon (205-90, college: N.Mexico) contributed with 11 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American guard D.J. Strawberry (196-85, college: Maryland) replied with 19 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Tomislav Zubcic (208-90, agency: Beo Basket) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Cibona. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Serbian champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Crvena Zvezda. Defending Croatian champion Cibona keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. Partizan's next round opponent will be HKK Siroki WWin (#13) in Siroki Brijeg which should be an easy win for them. Cibona will play at home against Krka in Novo Mesto and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
