Top 16 Round 4: ALBA - Panathinaikos 73-79 (23-23, 16-22, 17-20, 17-14)
Date: January 16, 2013 Panathinaikos clinched the third win in EuroLeague Top 16 stage. They upset ALBA in Berlin for 3-1 record in Group E. Jonas Maciulis exploded with 28 points for the winners. ALBA and Panathinaikos stayed on level terms throughout the opening frame. The scoreboard read 23:23 at the end of the first quarter. The Hellenes pulled ahead in the second frame. The Athens team held ALBA to 16 points and raced to a 45:39 halftime advantage. Panathinaikos kept ALBA at bay throughout the third term. The Greek team extended the margin to as many as 9 points at the final break. ALBA tried to put together a comeback rally. Foster and Morley dragged the hosts within four points with 31 seconds to go. But Banks went deadly from the penalty stripe and Panathinaikos eventually ran away with victory. Roko-Leni Ukic had 14 points, while James Gist provided 10 points for Panathinaikos. Nihad Djedovic answered with 21 points for ALBA. Deon Thompson posted 16 points in the loss.
