Fourth ranked Russian Krasnie Krilya (9-3) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 5th ranked Kazakhstan BC Astana (6-5) 78-75 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of BC Astana. BC Astana was ahead by 4 points after three quarters before a 26-19 charge of Krasnie Krilya, which allowed them to win the game. The winners were led by American guard Aaron Miles (186-83, college: Kansas) who scored that evening 17 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and the other American import forward Andre Smith (203-85, college: N.Dakota St.) supported him with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Even 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by Serbian swingman Branko Cvetkovic (200-84, agency: Beo Basket) did not help to save the game for BC Astana. American center David Simon (208-82, college: IPFW) added 19 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Krasnie Krilya have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Khimky. Defending Kazakhstan champion BC Astana keeps the fifth position with five games lost. Krasnie Krilya will play against PGE Turow (#9) in Zgorzelec in the next round and are hoping to win another game. BC Astana will play on the road against Lietuvos rytas (#6) in Vilnius and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
