Date: January 20, 2013
The game between Top Four teams took place in Moscow. First ranked Russian host CSKA Moscow (11-1) defeated 3rd ranked Latvian VEF Riga (8-4) 83-75. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of VEF Riga. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But VEF Riga won fourth quarter 20-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. CSKA Moscow made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. CSKA Moscow outrebounded VEF Riga 36-20 including a 28-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Viktor Khryapa (203-82) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 10 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists and Serbian center Nenad Krstic (212-83) who added 21 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American-Bulgarian guard Earl Rowland (188-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) with 14 points and 9 assists and Lithuanian forward Donatas Zavackas (203-80, college: Pittsburgh) scored 16 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. VEF Riga's coach Ramunas Butautas rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. CSKA Moscow have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending Russian champion maintains first position with 11-1 record. Defending Latvian champion VEF Riga keeps the third place with four games lost. CSKA Moscow will face league's second-placed Zalgiris in Kaunas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. VEF Riga will play at home against Enisey Krasnoyarsk.
