Regular Season Day 11: Khimky - PGE Turow 91-72 (22-16, 19-18, 29-21, 21-17)
Date: January 14, 2013 No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Russian Khimky (8-3) crushed 9th ranked Polish PGE Turow (2-9) in Khimki 91-72 on Monday. The game without a history. Khimky led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to PGE Turow's 26. It was a great shooting night for Khimky especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by PGE Turow's players. Finnish point guard Petteri Koponen (194-88) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Forward Alexey Zhukanenko (210-86, agency: Alti Sport) contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Khimky's coach Rimas Kurtinaitis used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard David Jackson (193-86, college: W.Illinois) answered with 11 points and Serbian guard Djordje Micic (195-83) added 11 points and 4 assists in the effort for PGE Turow. Five PGE Turow players scored in double figures. Khimky moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. PGE Turow lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with nine games lost. Khimky will face BC Donetsk (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. PGE Turow will play against Azovmash in Mariupol and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
